I told you I'd provide more substantial fare during normal human hours! But before I get into that title/rating/summary business we all know and love, a few things you should know:

1. This story can be read alone, but, if you're interested, it is a sequel to the story this true/false thing, in which it is mentioned that Peter has caught Neal more ( Read more... )

*applauds* You've done it again you genius you! Wow, what a show. I loved it. I loved seeing how Neal is not, in fact, this ubercriminal type who, like, has superhuman stealth and never makes a mistake. The opening was fabulous--Peter's outrage at how young and un-hardened Neal is. So perfect. So Peter! Someone who has a very clear picture of what is, what isn't, and what ought to be--well, that kind of person WOULD be totally enraged at discovering that the mastermind behind all those crimes is this pretty young thing. But! As much as I gleed at the start and as much as I adored the whole damn story, my FAVORITE part was this:

Instead, like a middle school girl with a fucking crush, he'd said "You know my name." He'd realized his mistake a second too late, but before he could start stammering an excuse, Neal raised both eyebrows and offered him a slow, enthralled smile. He looked like himself for the first time since Peter had arrested him.

"I have the whole time," he'd said, and he'd continued to smile at Peter until the bailiff had grunted and yanked him away.

Oh, man. Here is where the crowd went wild. Neal's enthralled smile! And Peter's honesty. Good lord. You wrote that instant of recognition like it was so easy and dang! I can just see it happening in my mind and weirdly it feels like one of my favorite moments from the show...if you get what I mean...anyway, thanks for writing!!!

SERIOUSLY YOUR COMMENTS ARE ALWAYS SO AWESOME.

That scene was one of my favorites to write :D It's absolutely trying to parallel their relationship in the show...I can think of a few different moments I was sort of pulling on there. And I love that the rest of it right true for you and AHH, thank you!

*laughs* I'm glad you like it! I really love the idea of Peter as Captain America. I bet it's one of those things Elizabeth would think, and would be amused by. And is definitely one of the reasons she married him. She seems like a patriot, you know? ;D
