"You know, X basically spout out ideas that nobody ever does anything about." In your opinion, which broad professional stereotype better matches X?

Feel encouraged to expand and/or vent in comments. Context will be revealed this time tomorrow (if you aren't such a political junkie that you recognize it already).

Context, added later: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R-2016 presidential nomination) came to Boston last week, to speak to a gathering of Republican party leaders. According to the Boston Globe (which, I allow, often has its own ax to grind, but I'm going to trust them to have quoted the governor more or less correctly) "We have some folks that believe that our job is to college professors. [I don't know who.] You know, college professors basically spout out ideas that nobody ever does anything about."

I guess I've calmed down a bit - resigned myself, may be more like it - over the last 24 hours, because I can remember I had quite a head of Rant built up last night that I don't seem able to summon now. And certainly I would not try to hold up college professors, as a class, as paragons of brilliant, articulate crafting of actionable policy. But compared with so many of the leading voices of the Republican party active wing, this just gripes my wagger. The kettle is just so, so black it makes the pot look only a little sooty, is all.

Poor little rant; sorry you had to wait a day for it.
