I noticed the inconsistent subtitles also, but I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. A criticism which I only came to much later--it was the morning of the Saturday of Readercon--was that the only women guitar players who are interviewed are in the their capacity as teachers, not players. Susan Tedeschi would have made a really great interviewee, and there are a number of female guitar players of the past, such as Memphis Minnie and Mother Maybelle Carter--who have had long influences. Apologies for typos, this comment field is not very accessible.
As for the subtitles, "the new musician and the science of learning" seems to be the subtitle for the audio book and "the science of becoming musical at any age" for the print book. There's no obvious reason why the change (still less why which is which), I just note and move on.
