You've got a friend..

I am a bit slack - I had not noticed that I had been friended by Rhiannon (regency_rhi ), though I will admit to having visited voyeuristically (just love the elasticity of English) in the past.

So now it's official. Friends. I like it.:)

It's been a cultural feast the past few days. Jenn (astridthemighty ) and I had spent the past 10 days in Batehaven, eating, sleeping, knitting, watching many episodes of Bonanza, Glen or Glenda, Rancho Notorious, Saving Grace, Goodbye, Mr Chips, Great Expectations, Rebecca, and the entire Brideshead Revisited.

We returned for Thursday evening as we are both in a rehearsed reading production of Vathek, a sort of Iranian Faust with a mother who makes Lady Macbeth look like Mother Theresa. I have not performed in some time and was, therefore, both surprised and rather proud to have been cast as Nazim, the narrator; a role which is demanding and rather prominent.

Jenn's audition was also impressive, to the point where a role has been expanded for her. I am a proud Mum. Sadly, rehearsals clash with Benji's (

thebenj ) study timetable, as he was very impressive and highly sort but unavailable.:( Still, hopes of him attending as audience:) More of that later.

Friday night, Cat Empire at the Enmore, supported by the Custom Kings. All in all, rocked out, though the temptstion to wrest the mixing desk from those who leave singers' necks corded with strain as their mikes are not mixed...death to such morons, say I.

Great to be with Benj (thebenj ) Jenn (astridthemighty) Nicchi ( vonwolf ) and Charlie.

Saturday, Democracy by Michael Frayn at STC. John Gaden rules. Phillip Quast does not sing, but his voice is great. Staging is exquisite - recreating the mood of a train with lighting and sound was inspired. Use of spiral stairs and levels was great. My joy at NO attempt at German accents was boundless: it avoided that Hogan's Heroes trap.

I'm tired and now I think I've mastered this update thing, after losing it twice this afternoon, I shall stretch luck no further but go to bed, sleeping soundly in the knowledge that both my children are as happy as I have ever seen them. Jenn has been at Paige's (madame_wolf ) and had a ball despite squashing a finger in a door and bleeding a lot.

Benj is bliss - in - a - bucket! Head in the clouds, floating on air - those who know him will acknowledge he so deserves it. No more of the cryptic. You know who you are. It's all your fault. Go you!!
