Thailand and Kate!
So Thailand was a great deal of fun. Highlights of it include the Grand Palace and the temples there, a trip to Ayuthaya, amazing jazz music at this hole in the wall dive bar, really cool Khon puppet show, riding an elephant, and wandering into one of the infamous dancer bars on my last night there. Oh, and great food.
Frustrating bits: Things being closed. It being very hot. Recalcitrant cab drivers. Getting lost and not being able to find things.
I may write more, especially about my day in Chengdu. Fascinating water management system there. And great guide. But not now, I'm busy.
Oh, and Kate from Australia is here. Great fun. Having lots of intellectual conversations, and I'm finding I'm out of practice. Oh well. Nothing like diving headfirst into complicated politico-social-ethics discussions to warm up the old brain muscle.
