*twitches* I will be a good girl and resist the urge to scour jstor for articles pertaining to the 'evolution'/history behind the modern Chinese wedding. I will be a good girl.
But the 'games' remind me of scenes from "The Wedding Banquet" by Ang Lee. Have you seen it?
HAH! I see it! I see the community! It is no secret from me! (Plus one of the admins said there was someone playing from China, and I was like. ... ... I wonder...)
Anyway. I may join soon, although I know you're pretty busy. Do you play much?
Me? Perish the thought! There are plenty of Pern M*ers in ...China ... I just happen to read the LE one ... because it's...interesting?
I play a decent amount. Not so much lately because I've been crazy busy, but I'd say I'm decently involved, plot-wise. :) Come join! If you're a rider, I highly recommend you figure out a way to join wing 3C. For, uh, no discernable reason.
I'm going to be having cable in about 5 weeks. Really. Really this time. They've laid the cable.
And I'm not on any game...
Oh. And the real reason I'm posting. We're trying to set times. We can leave as early as the day after Christmas, and stay as late as the 26th of Jan, but I've only got 2 weeks. So... what works best for you? And what visa stuff do we need?
Well. I have a friend from Australia (one of Amie's friends) who is going to be staying with me until the 26th of December. Give me a day or two to get laundry and stuff done, and you guys should be able to come anytime. I'll still be working, so a Thursday arrival would be ideal, but I can always rearrange my class schedule to accommodate your flight.
As far as a Visa goes, all you need is the simple Tourism visa. It's a little more of a hassle, though, to get a visa with China than with other countries. You either mail or drop off your visa application along with your passport at the Chinese visa office--it's in Bethesda, Maryland. Then you go and pick it up about 4 business days later. I'm not totally 100% sure how to handle it by mail--we've always done it in person. Oh, and make sure your passport has at least 6 months left until it expires.
Coke, McDonalds, KFC, and Pizza Hut. Though the weird thing is that all the coke cans are peel tops, not pop tops. So if you open a can, you're left holding a scrap of aluminum and going "uhhh, where do I throw this?"

And, unfortunately, not so not-so-traditional as some of the ones you've been to. :D

Admittedly and rather scandalously, my first thought was 'Hey, he's looking hot'. Then again, my second thought was 'They have Coke in China?'.
All in all, my congratulations to the couple. :)
