downtown
This weekend has to one of the best that I've had in a very long time. Adrian and I went downtown St. Pete last night and had an incredible night. First we went to the Peter Max show at the Arts Center which was interesting but very pretentious. His old works are very highly prized and are quite impressive but this show had a lot of repeat prints and a lot of things he just signed his name on and was selling for insane amounts of money. For example, he had a guitar that was probably worth about $400, repainted the body sky blue (no designs) and signed his name on the neck and was selling it for $25,000. Still, fun to walk around and actually see an art show with a guy/bf/ whatchamacallit.
Since we decided there was nothing more to see at the art show, we traipsed down the street to the Globe, which was packed, and sat eating mini pizzas and drinking chai and raspberry tea. THAT was cool. Just sitting and talking about the show and discussing points of view. Very easy going. Eventually we got the hell up and walked back to the State Theater for the show.
The show that night was "Geri X" but included Have Gun Will Travel, The Diviners, The Beauvilles (whom Adrian knows personally, his little sister went to school with the lead singer) and finally the headliner Geri X. I've never ever been to the State before in my long long life here so I was starstruck to begin with. ALL of the bands were pretty damn good and that's a feat for opening local bands.
The downside to the night was a started my period (earmuffs guys) and it was so damn painful we ended up cutting out early so I could go home and take some pain medication. That is so hard explaining to a guy you just started dating. Logic says if something hurts go to a doctor and get it fixed. Yeah well, female problems aren't so easy. The doctors won't do a damn thing for me. They sort of patted me on the hand and told me not to worry about it unless things get worse. Kay, great thanks. I'll continue to bleed every other week then..........
