The first few months suck. Seriously suck. Parenting well is really really hard.
It does get easier though. It really does. Someday in the not too distant future, you'll be able to shower or have three minutes to yourself.
BTW, I don't think cribs or bassinets are normal. Most humans sleep with their babies. It's mostly just americans that don't. Aidan always slept with us, and actually still does. It's worked out just fine. We have a big king bed, and Aidan sleeps between us. We have a double bed in "his" room and that's where we have alone time. Aidan usually goes to sleep at about 7:30, so we end up having the evening to spend with each other.
But at first, it was hard. Especially those first few months.
But you're doing all the right things. Breastfeeding is the best thing you can do for both of you. Slings ROCK!
I firmly believe in Attachment Parenting, and so far, Dr. Sears has been 100% on the money with his predictions. I constantly get comments about how kind, sensitive and sweet my little boy is. I can't recommend AP enough.
