UNL Application (xpost)

I submitted an application to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln's College of Anthropology.
The only way I can describe this experience: stepping into the ring with a prize-fighter that has beaten you before. You know how much that beating is going to hurt if it comes again. And you're volunteering for it.
But, as the old saying goes, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Most people daydream about winning the lottery and acquiring worldly goods. I daydream about acquiring knowledge.
There are so many ways in which I could fall flat on my face here that I can't come up with all of them in one sitting. But I will certainly never succeed if I don't get out there and try! I want to see where 'we' started and how we developed through ancient times so that I can compare that knowledge with how far we've come since we wore ancient faces. I also am very interested in Experimental Archaeology. I don't just want to *know* how they did it - I want to try it too. Why? Why Not??
I'm sure I will be asked what I will *do* with my acquired knowledge. What would I do with a degree in Anthropology? Well, one thing I know for sure - I'd be better able to acquire all that lovely knowledge after learning the methods to acquire it efficiently! And I don't mind sharing it with others - so teaching would be an obvious career path.
I should be receiving an introductory email within three days. We'll see from there.
