For a long time, we in the US have been in the habit of stealing tv shows from other countries...after which we invariably destroy them. One exception has been "Iron Chef."
The first attempt made to adapt that for American television did, admittedly blow chunks.

But once it was wrested away from Fox "Iron Chef America" hasn't been half bad. I mean, it's got Alton Brown and that can't be bad. He's a foodie icon and a well educated fellow, not unlike Yukio Hattori on the Japanese original.
Then the UK decided to get in on the game. I blame Jamie Oliver. Because I can, not because there is any evidence to support this. Anyway, the UK version has, instead of a respected culinary educator like Hattori or an acknowledged food genius like Brown, a wine writer who apparently fancies himself a bit of a comedian. And the format has been altered to the Iron Chef and 2 sous chefs making 4 dishes while 4 challengers make one each. Huh? This is not what I call fair, how about you? LOL!
I can't find any good videos of the British show (none than I can embed, anyway.) But to my British friends, I say, "Seriously? This is the best you've got?" Because, for once, some other country has managed to mangle a show we do well.
