Portland's own Leanne Marshall won "Project Runway" on Bravo last night! I admit to cheering loud enough to scare Faraday when they announced it. My heart broke for
Korto, whose collection I also adored. And whose story I found heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. And whose daughter won my heart.
But Leanne, the geeky girl from Portland with the even more dorky cartoonist boyfriend WON! I did love her collection, even though there is only one piece in the entire line that I could possibly ever wear. And that's the top only of this outfit.
And she used sustainable materials (mostly) in her work which makes me like her even more. And she did an absolutely adorable dorky dance when she got into the backlit area behind the screen. And her boyfriend tried as hard as he could but he was still the definition of "adorkable" watching her collection going down the runway.
She even had a dorky model. Who jumped around in bare feet and an evening gown when she learned that Leanne (and thus she) had won.
And the look on her face when she found out she had to demonstrate driving her new Saturn (she looked so uncomfortable) was priceless.
And the only bad part of it is that since Project Runway is probably being moved to Lifetime TV and thus seriously cheapened, we'll probably never get to see Leanne on our television screens again.
But LEANNE WON PROJECT RUNWAY! Not just a Portlander, but a supremely dorky Portlander. The kind we love. At least in my circle of friends we love the dorky Portlanders.
I think
indigo_spicehas started dialing the men in the white coats for me so I'll stop now.
Carry on.
But Leanne won Project Runway! Squeeee!
