I had a strange dream last night ... I was in a hospital getting a check up for work with another coworker (the face of my coworker in the dream was not anyone I knew). We both ended up being forced into surgery for ... I forget, but it was critical at the time, and somehow important for the job I was doing.
I did not want to do this, and fought the nurses. Next 'scene' I 'woke up' on a hospital bed to bright white lights, bleeding from stitches in my abdomen, the pain was intense. My coworker lay next to me on her bed, bleeding from the same wound that I had. A nurse came in and yelled at us for being uncooperative and refused to give meds for the pain, or to clean the wounds that were still bleeding.
This nurse was a large woman - in every sense of the word. She was dark haired, tall and broad - but not fat. She filled a doorway and had a very intimidating presence .. like a large dog about to attack. She was not a familiar face to me at all, but she kept making random appearances in my dream - mostly to either slap me (and whomever I was with) around, or to try to pull our stitches out with her bare hands.
A different, younger, nurse came in and helped me off the bed to get a glass of water from a bubbler. This nurse was the complete opposite - small, blond and soft. She was a slight build, and had a small, soft voice - almost as if she was afraid to speak at all. Most of the time she talked to me about how much she hated what she was doing - and I was giving her career advise on other options she could go into in the health care field. She seemed relieved and grateful that someone listened to her, and happy that there were other options for her other than what she was doing. She talked to me like I was her counseler, giving career and life advice.
There was more in the dream, but it's fading quickly now. Mostly it had to do with me wandering around the hospital, helping people get to their rooms, and trying to find my way to my room, all the while avoiding the mean nurse who yelled at us, beat us, and pull at the stitches everyone had and making them bleed again. It was almost like running around the hospital in Silent Hill - that kind of tension and fear, but in a normal-ish, brightly lit, hospital.
It was such a bizzare dream for me .. mostly because, while I usually dream in color - I don't dream in sensations. Hot, cold, hard, soft .. concepts but not actually felt. I will look at a door and know it's solid, but I don't actually feel it. In this dream, I felt the scratchiness of the hospital gown, the uncomfortable hospital bed, the cool tile floor, the cold wet from the water in the bubbler, the warm dripping of the blood from the stitches on my abdomen, the intense pain of those stitches every time I moved or had them pulled on by the mean nurse. It was utterly bizzare.
It was so bizzare a dream that I had to look up some of the symbols that stood out in the dream and here is what I found:
Hospital
To see or dream that you are in a hospital, symbolizes your need to heal or improve your physical or mental health. You need to get back to the flow of everyday life.
Nurse
To see a nurse in your dream, means that you need to take time out in order to heal, mentally, physically and spiritually.
Surgery
To dream that you or someone else is undergoing surgery, signifies the opening of the Self and/or the need for emotional healing. You need to "cut out" or eliminate something from your life. Alternatively, a surgery suggests that you are feeling the influence of some authority figure. You are being swayed to act and behave a certain way. A more literal interpretation of this dream may reflect your concerns about upcoming surgery or about your health.
Blood
To dream that you are bleeding or losing blood, signifies that you are suffering from exhaustion or that you are feeling emotionally drained. To dream that others are bleeding, signifies an emotional cry for help.
Stitches
To dream that you have stitches, represent your responsibility in keeping and holding a situation or relationship together. You fear that this situation or relationship is falling apart and it is up to you to mend it. Consider also the symbolism of where the stitches are on the body for additional significance. (in my dream - that area was my lower belly, from hip bone to hip bone)
Pain
To dream that you are in pain, suggests that you are being too hard on yourself, especially if a situation was out of your control. The dream may also be a true reflection of actual pain that exists somewhere in your body. Dreams can reveal and warn about health problems. Consider where the pain is for additional significance.
Counselor
To see or dream that you are a counselor or dream that you are one, suggests that you are seeking for some support and direction in your life. Pay important attention to what the counselor is saying and/or doing. Your dream is trying to convey a message that you need to think about and possibly act upon.
