'Tis the time of year when my asthma goes out of control. It's been about 10 days now .. and it's only been the last couple that I've actually been able to breath with any sense of normality. The choking, coughing asthma is obnoxious - and just plain hurts. I'd rather wheeze for a month than cough for a week, I think. But, thanks to the miracle of modern medicine (aka: 3 different inhalers), everything is almost under control again.
Bonus - I think I might actually be able to quit smoking and stay quit this time. Pain is a great deterrant to smoking. When one inhales what feels like shards of broken glass, it's pretty easy to say "nope - don't want one". This will be the third attempt to quit in the past year .. here's hoping that the third time is the charm and this time I'll STAY quit.
In 2 weeks I will start my rotation in the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at the Humane Society. I'm looking forward to working with little critters again. I just hope they don't make me work with birds .. I'm not good with birds. They are so fragile - and I'm such a klutz. Every time I handle a bird, I'm afraid I'm going to accidentally crush it.
A friend of mine has expressed an interest in attending more art gallery openings, and other cultural social events - something I've been wanting to do for a while, but have never feelt confident enough to fly solo to. We've agreed to be each other's dates for these kinds of things in the future. Yeah! Someone to get dressed up with and meet new people. Now that summer is almost here, there will be ample opportunity for things like that.
I've been working on getting into the habit of taking a nice hour long walk at least 2-3 times a week. My goal is to increase that to daily (weather permitting). I've been stuck on a platau for weight loss since January. I think I've done all I can just changing my diet .. time to get more active. Good thing the weather is warming up, so it's nice to actually be outside - which makes the walk quite enjoyable.
I'm hoping to get the Epic Mount up and running this week. The weather is going to be fantastic for the first ride of the season - and I want to take advantage of it.
