This is going to sound stupid.... but does anyone know if there's such a thing as USB RAM?

I hate my work laptop, and want more RAM. But they won't install more RAM. So I want to buy a lil stick thing to plug into a USB port that will increase the RAM.

I have NO idea if such a thing even exists... is this wishful thinking?

however, can you simply buy more real RAM and put it in the laptop yourself?

Work Laptop.... I'm not allowed to "modify" it in any way. At least not from a hardware point of view. I can install whatever software I want - I just can't open it up if you know what I mean.
