(I actually wrote this entry on Monday haha, just didn't feel like backdating it)
This weekend has definitely been insane. Do you know that I don’t even remember posting yesterdays entry? Hahaha. I spent most of the day yesterday in a catatonic state from the craziness of all the moving. Waking up only to eat or go to the bathroom, and even that I don’t remember much of.
I’m on a plane right now heading to Newfane NY… don’t ask because I have no idea where it is either. Somewhere near Buffalo. I can’t imagine there’s much to do there. But I’m going for work, not play, so I guess I really shouldn’t be worrying about that…..right?.....riiiiiiiight ;)
Funny thing is that I’ve never used my laptop on the plane before. I was so paranoid about my wireless radio - because it’s always on. I’ve never had to turn it off, so I didn’t know how to. So here I sit for 10 minutes panicking that the plane is going to go down because me and my ineptness is screwing with the planes radar signal. Truthfully I haven’t even any idea if that’s a valid concern, but since you can’t use cell phones it made sense to me. No worries, I managed to turn it off.
And while my seat is in probably the WORST place on this flight, I have to say there really aren’t the usual amount of ‘winners’ here. Normally when I fly I always seem to attract the most insane and weird people. Smelly people, fat people, unwashed people, screaming children and their incapable parents, overtalkers, overeaters, the rude, the old, people with halitosis, people with intense fears of flying, christian republicans, and people who you’d swear are really hobos who managed to stumble onto a flight.
For the first time in a very long time I don’t have to deal with that. Something I can overlook being seated Right outside the lavatory for.
Getting back and forth to the airport will hopefully be a much easier experience for me now that I’m much closer. For anyone that doesn’t know Boston, or has never been… There’s this wonderful thing called ‘The Big Dig’. If you’ve not heard of it then I suggest you look it up. To sum up - it is an overly elaborate fuck up. Someone, somewhere, got the bright idea about 20 years ago to reconstruct the highway system in Boston so that all the major highways run UNDER the city.
Perhaps a good idea in theory - but today the project is INSANELY over budget, and over due. In the process of creating this Highway Metropolis the city went through contractor after contractor, corners were cut, taxpayers money was spent, and someone was getting rich off of it (but surely was not me or you).
About a month or 2 ago a piece of paneling fell inside one of the tunnels, killing a woman and injuring her husband. Which is horrible. And the primary tunnel to the airport off the highway has been closed since, for re-evaluation. Rightfully so. This has made getting to the airport very difficult for me. If you’ve not driven in Boston during rush hour… I highly recommend it. It is one of the only instances (aside from renting anything from a U-Haul company) where I can sit back and understand how those who are predisposed to psychotic episodes of manslaughter are pushed to such acts. No I don’t condone or approve of it… but I can understand it. Because I’m usually driven to an inch of my sanity.
Well my dears that’s all behind me for now. To which I am ever thankful.
And I have spoken too soon… Ladies and Gentlemen we have a “Chester” on board Flight 3230 to Buffalo. A “Chester” for those who are not familiar with my little nicknames for people, is someone who is creepy like a child molester. Hence the name. In the past 20 minutes I’ve seen this guy turn around a good half dozen times and kinda leer at me. He’s about 2 rows in front of me on the opposite aisle. No worries, nothing a lil bitch glance can’t solve ;)
As much as I am excited to be going on a customer training (it’s my favorite part of my job) I really could’ve used this time to be home and working on stuff for my apt. Fortunately my Chicago trip was pushed back next week and I’ll have some free time after work. But you know how I am, once I get started on something I don’t like to leave it unfinished or in a state of disarray. That’s kinda what I’ve been forced to do. Yea Yea, it’s the control freak in me - Shut Up Kyle, I know.
We have another Gay Games party coming up which I’m excited to go to. I know we had one last week but that was for all the athletes. This is something that is just for my team, thrown by Matt - one of our players. I hope most everyone can make it, it’d be nice to see everyone together again. As it is I haven’t been able to make it to most practices with all the craziness and work and all. Still unsure if I’ll be able to do the indoor season yet.
Volleyball starts up next week and I’m incredibly excited for that. I haven’t played all summer and I’ve been itching to play. I was only able to make one of the beach volleyball dates and that was a blast. I hope that next year will be easier for that. Otherwise I’m not much of a fan of where we play in the summer, so I just choose not to go.
The more I fly, the more I love the movie “A View From The Top”. I think that if I were to ever work at an airline I’d be just like Sally Westin. :P
I’m dying to see “ACCEPTED” in theatres, I saw today that it’s actually out. I must admit the only reason I want to see it is because Lewis Black is in it and plays the Dean of the College. He’s PERFECT for that role hahaha. I’ve watched any special I can get my hands on with him in it. I highly suggest going to YouTube and looking him up - it’s worth it. Stuff like this makes him priceless to me:
