New news:
Oasis, The Killers and Razorlight are to cover songs from The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band to mark the album's 40th anniversary.
James Morrison, The Fratellis, Travis and the Kaiser Chiefs are among the other acts taking part in the special recording sessions for BBC Radio 2.
Old news:
In 1988 the New Musical Express released an album called Sgt. Pepper Knew My Father, in aid of the charity Childline. It featured cover versions of all the Sgt. Pepper tracks by various artists. The track list included songs from acts such as Sonic Youth, The Fall, Billy Bragg, The Wedding Present (with Amelia Fletcher), Courtney Pine. And Frank Sidebottom.
I very much like the 'Sgt. Pepper Knew My Father' album. I really couldn't imagine enjoying the shower of musical shite that will be the 'new' one. What awful, uninspired choice of artists! Stupid BBC2. They could have chosen exciting, new, innovative bands but no, they stick with what's popular and, frankly, awful.
Gah.
