I guess today is a SNAP day for me. Heat sure does makes me do and say crazy stuff. *phew
But first:
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THOSE WHO CELEBRATE IT!!
GREEN AND RED AND CHRISTMAS TREE,
MAY YOUR DAY FILLED WITH GLEE!
Well, that aside, I can't believe I finally approve a romance-themed show, but
TOKYO MARBLE CHOCOLATE is sweet! (yeah, I said it. I, who was so avoiding romance genre like it's a plague, got interested in one and even said it was a great one too. I blame it on the heat....)
It's not your over-the-counter romance recipe. The seasoning is just right, and it was well-cooked.
I mean, you don't need to throw a busload of trouble as if when two specific people are together the end of the world's coming. And you SURELY don't need to put an overdramatized ending just to show how great the effect is. Sometimes too much of those, could distract the audience from the message the film trying to convey.
Tokyo Marble Chocolate is so simple and yet it's story is by far more beautiful and heartwarming than your average romance. It was only 2 episode each 28minute-length more or less. The way it was presented in two point of view also what makes it different. You get to see what the woman 'thought' she saw on one episode, and what the man 'thought' he saw in another. I can't say it was a realistic story, ....but most of the aspect of it is realistic. At least, this seems much more possible than most of the romance anime/film I've seen in my life. The semi-realism art also suited for the theme because it's lovely and somehow to me show that it's mature and not some childish romance.
You know, I've seen "Paperman" short movie from Disney from the Academy Awards episode in the telly. And this movie is really similar to it, or should I say, Paperman is really similar to Tokyo Marble Chocolate. The similarity shows in how the story is simple yet touching, have the same genre -romance-, involving some other power (mini-donkey and paperplanes), and have a great songs and art -okay the last part might be doesn't really that important to mention, lol-.
Anyways, if you like Paperman, you might like this one too, and the reverse.
OOT: SEAMO's "Mata Aimashou" is really a great theme song! I love that song even before watching this, and this movie really capture the essence of the song! PURR-FECT! I'm gonna remember this movie everytime I hear that song now...
