Dear Mr. President

Nov 28, 2007 13:28

I am not making a habit out of writing a blog everyday but if you listen to my profile song, you will know that I have a reason to write this one.

Pink says it all. I would never publicly denounce George Bush like the Dixie Chicks, not as a role model but all Pink does is question him. She never calls him an ignorant redneck or a hypocrite, but we all know that we would still agree if she did. She raises some good questions.

How does George Bush sleep at night, knowing that our men are dieing over a war on oil? How does he have happy dreams as he is marching our brothers, husbands, sons, mothers, daughters, wives, our best friends off to the Middle East to put money in his pocket?

As for No Child Left Behind, maybe if Bush did focus less on high test scores and more on keeping our boys out of jail and off the street, the rise in test scores would follow. If he spent half of the money on an unrealistic idealist war on something that can't be overcome on helping the underpriveleged Americans and that will make up the jail population, America would be a better place.

How can he say that gay marriage is wrong when Dick Cheney's daughter is a lesbian? If one of his girls were gay, would he change his mind? Or would he truly hate his daughter for who she loved? Does Bush indeed hate the world because he didn't have any friends when he was younger? Maybe he wasn't everything daddy wanted and he's trying so hard to make him proud and all he is doing is disappointing him.

Laura. Laura Bush, what do you think? When you hold your husband and tell him you love him, how do you fight back the tears? You are a mother. What if it was your son over in Iraq that never came back, would you still support a war on an ideal? If one of your daughters were gay, would you be able to love your husband the same if he refused to speak to her or allow her in your home?

And lastly, I would like to ask Bush just a few more things. Is he proud of what he has done? Does he think that he truly has done his best and done what is best for this great nation and these great people? He cannot fix it now and he cannot just pull our troops out, but when he closes his eyes to pray, does he ask for forgiveness? And if indeed he does, does God give it?

Maybe before he goes to God, he should come to us. Don't ask your speech writers for help. Call the country to attention and make sure every channel and every radio station in America broadcasts it. And say what? Say you are sorry. That at one time you did what you thought was in our best interest, but that somehow you lost track or lost sight of your people. Tell us that you do cry at night for our boys in Iraq and that you do feel remorse for their lives. Tell the men in prison for trying to support their families by selling drugs because it is the only thing they knew, that you promise to make sure that their sons don't follow them. Make a promise you can actually keep. Don't promise to end a war on terrorism. Terrorism has existed since the dawn of time and there will never be peace on Earth, but maybe we can have some peace in at least our nation, in America.

Mr. President, you have a little more than a year left in office. You have spent the last seven years destroying America and just making the bad worse. Take this small amount of time to begin reconstruction. Get our children off the street and far from prisons. Give them something to work for, to believe in. Preach the American dream, don't ask our boys to sign on the dotted line for Uncle Sam. Uncle Sam would be far happier if there were no need for his men and women to have to sign that line.

I have supported Bush from day 1 and ever since about a year ago, that support has wained to near existance. If he could read this, maybe he would take it into consideration. Probably not. But either way, I do not believe he did what he thought was in the best interest of America. I just wish he would become the president I thought he was, even if only for 13 months.
