Last Saturday, Rose and I went to the tattoo conference at the Seattle Center. We have each been planning tattoos for at least a year, and just haven't gotten around to it. Going to the conference seemed like the right thing to do.
The first thing we saw when we walked in was a sign saying WELCOME TO YOUR NEW ADDICTION. We laughed. Right, we'll get addicted to tattoos. Then, we went around to the various booths to see the artists and their wares. I have to say, the customer service was lousy. Most of the artists looked like biker dudes (not that there's anything wrong with that) or wife-beaters, and didn't seem to give a shit whether we had questions of not. We weren't covered in tats from head to foot, so they didn't even notice us.
Finally, we came upon a booth where the guy looked like Arlo Guthrie, was very sweet, took time with us, and before we knew it, I was getting a Celtic bracelet around my right wrist, and Rose got a slightly different design around her upper arm. We are very proud.
I'm thinking about my ankle now. Rose wants to get her eyebrow pierced...
