Rated NC-17
Fandom: A Nightmare on Elm Street
Pairing: Glen Lantz/Nancy Thompson
Summary: If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks, then I'll follow you into the dark
Spoilers: To be safe, NOES 1 and 3 [Dream Warriors]
Disclaimers: NOES and all characters are owned by New Line and Wes Craven. Not me. I'm not making any money here.
Author's Notes #1: I was supposed to be writing Jack Sparrow fic. I listened to "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie too many times today and this is what happened. Not a songfic. It just provided inspiration and a title. The only lyrics from the song are in my summary above.
Author's Notes #2: I'm going with the Kristen spelling for Kristen/Kirsten Parker.
Author's Notes #3: Is this the first Glen/Nancy fic ever? :)

'God, it's bright,' Nancy thought as an unidentified light source battered away at her closed eyelids. She was so tired. She just wanted to sleep but, the light didn't seem to be going away any time soon. Sighing, she blinked her eyes open. Everything had been so dark only moments ago. The dingy room of Krueger's nightmare house fading into blackness as her pain carried her away. She blinked again and everything started to clear. It was beautiful here; blue skies with perfect white clouds, full leafy trees jutting out of impossibly green grass. She smiled and turned her head to find herself resting on a pillow of blue fleece with rather firm filling.
"Have a good dream?"
The voice startled her. She sat up and realized she had been lying on someone's lap. Said someone was now smiling at her. She blinked again as her throat constricted with emotion. "Glen?"
He arched an eyebrow in amusement. "Last time I looked. You must have been really tired there."
Glen was dressed in his old half-shirt with the number 10 printed on it. The one that dusted the top of his bellybutton and sometimes, like when he wore it with the sweatpants he had on now, showed off the fascinating line of hair that dipped below his waistline. All she wanted to do was tackle him to the ground and kiss him for all she was worth. Instead, she rose on shaky legs and began to back away. That was what he had been wearing the last time she'd seen him, glimpsed through his bedroom window across the street from her on the night he'd been killed. Tears rose in her eyes as the memory of her 15 year old self screaming his name filled her ears.
He stood with her, his playful expression quickly turning to one of concern. "Nancy, what is it?"
"You're not him. It's a trick. Damn you, Krueger! Damn you!"
She began to run when Glen caught her wrist. "Nancy, wait! It's not like that. Not here."
She turned to face him, tears falling down her cheeks. "I don't believe you!"
"It's true, Nancy, listen." He pulled her against his chest and held her. She put her hands up between them, ready to push him away. "He can't touch us here. He can't hurt you any more."
"But you can't be here. You're dead."
He wiped her cheeks with his thumbs. "I hate to tell you this, Babe, but so are you."
Suddenly, her stomach flashed with pain. Four clear paths of brilliant agony. She lurched forwards and Glen caught her. "Deep breaths, Nancy." She gasped in a lungful of air then let it out shakily. "Good girl. Again." She inhaled again. As quickly as the pain had appeared, it was gone. "Better?" She nodded her head. Her arms came around him.
Glen smiled. "I take it you've figured out I'm me?"
She sniffled against his shoulder. "Can't imagine Krueger telling me something that would *relieve* my pain." She pulled back to look into his doe-brown eyes. She smiled, remembering high school. If she were honest with herself, and being dead she figured this was no time to start lying, she had never stopped loving him.
"That's nice to hear," Glen said, grinning.
She blinked. "What is?"
"That you never stopped loving me."
"But, I didn't say that. I only thought it."
"Sorry. Side-effect of being here."
"Okay, I'll bite. Where's here then?"
He took her hand. "Well… remember how I used to say you looked like an angel?"
She blushed. "I remember you only ever said it when I was naked."
Now it was his turn to blush. "Ah yeah, that's true. Well, horny or not, it turns out I was also sorta right."
"You'll explain that?"
He sat back down on the grass, tugging her gently down with him. "Krueger is a new demon. There needs to be a specific counterpart to him, metaphysically speaking."
"Okay?"
"You're not getting it?" She shook her head. Glen smiled. "Let me put it to you this way. You've been voted in, and I don't mean for Homecoming Queen, Babe."
"Voted in? As what?"
"As Krueger's personal, and eternal, pain in the ass."
She barked a laugh and got to her feet. "Well, some job I'll do of that! In case you'd forgotten, he just killed me. I'd say he won."
"That was when he was immortal and you were not. The playing field has been evened up as it were." Glen reached up and pulled her back down with him. "Look. Think of everything you've been through as on the job training. You fought him."
"I fought him to save myself!"
"You tried to save Rod and me too, don't forget. But in the fighting, you learned about him. And then when you were out of his reach because of the Hypnocil, you still fought him to save others."
She shook her head. "They were just kids. Like we'd been. I had to help. I had to try."
"And there are a lot more kids out there that will need you. They'll need you to come to them in dreams to help them to stay alive. And there will come a time when Krueger will be able to be taken on and defeated, and you're the one that will do it."
Nancy exhaled loudly, looking at the deep green grass. "Glen?"
"Yes?"
"I'm an angel?"
"Yup."
"No offense, but then what are you?"
He laughed. "You mean because not only did I not fight him, but I couldn't even stay awake when you asked me to?"
Her blue eyes met his brown. "Something like that, yeah."
"Every time Krueger suffers a real defeat, it releases the souls he's been accumulating. Think of it like an insurance policy that Hell tacked onto his dream power arrangement to keep him from ever becoming too powerful, demonically."
"Bureaucracy even in Hell?"
"Honey, bureaucracy was invented in Hell. Anyway, just before you died, you kicked his butt sufficiently to release all the souls he'd captured so far. I was one of them."
"Really? Plan on thanking me for that anytime soon?"
Glen wiggled his eyebrows at her. "You read my mind." He crawled forward and kissed her. "I really do need to thank you."
She smiled and turned her head shyly as his hand drifted below the hem of the pink shirt she wore. "How long do you get to stay?"
"As long as you want me to." He kissed her neck and her arms came around him.
"I don't understand."
"Well, before Krueger came along, we were supposed to grow up, get married, have some kids; you know, one of those life things you hear people talk about."
"I dimly recall."
"So, we were kind of meant for each other. That means I'm allowed to stay here to keep you company until your work is all done. Then we can go on together. All you have to do is ask for me."
"How do I do that?" Her eyes fluttered closed as he began to lick the pulse-point in her neck.
"You just say, 'I want him to stay with me.' Trust me; the right people can hear you when you ask for something."
She took a deep breath. "I want Glen Lantz to stay with me."
He chuckled against her collarbone. "I can see trust is going to be an issue."
She met his eyes, a little embarrassed. "I'm sorry. I…"
"No, no. Right you are. I didn't go through what you did with him. It's hard to believe that being sucked down into your own bed, pureed and spat back out all over the walls of your room as a blood geyser was a less traumatic way out, but in a way I guess it was."
"I felt it happen to you. I mean, I didn't *feel* what you felt but… I felt you go. I felt you leave me."
"Yeah," he said looking down at their joined hands. "Part of the whole 'meant to be' package, I'm afraid."
"How do you know all this stuff, by the way?"
"Well, you got a job and so did I. I'm your link. Up here, I'm the brain and you're the jock." He grinned at that.
Nancy laughed and brushed his soft brown hair with her fingertips. "So, if we're… um…" He smiled. "Are you sure you're allowed to… *thank* me?"
"Oh yeah, I'm sure. And Krueger will be weak for awhile, so we've got lots of time."
"How awhile?"
"Months."
"Really?" She smiled.
"Really," he said, laying her back against the grass. His body came to cover hers and he began to kiss her neck again.
"Glen," she said softly.
"Yeah?"
"Is this Heaven?"
"Not yet." His hand snaked up her shirt and stroked her breast.
She gasped and smiled. "No, I meant… this place. Are we in Heaven?"
He laughed against her skin. "No, Nance. That's where we'll go when your work is done. We're in the level of Heaven closest to the Earth. It's called Bliss."
He pulled his shirt off over his head and then did the same for hers. The feel of his bare chest touching hers sent a wave of desire through her whole body. "It certainly is," she whispered.
Glen smiled and kissed her mouth, seeking her tongue with his own. She returned the kiss eagerly, her hands coming into his hair. He suddenly broke the kiss and looked at her, wide-eyed. "Hey, I heard that!"
She laughed. "Heard what?" she said, the very picture of innocence.
"You thought, 'yep, his hair really is as fluffy as I remember'."
"Sorry. But it is." She smiled, truly happy for the first time in years.
"What? Is my hairstyle over or something?" He moved his head to lick at her neck.
"So over." She smiled and then gasped as his hand gently caressed her breast.
"So I'm past my expiration date." He grinned. "Quite literally."
"Nah, it's just that now I have a few years on you, Junior."
"Please, Nance, you know in my heart you'll always be jailbait to me." He moved his head to her breast, sucking the nipple into his mouth and teasing it with his tongue.
"Flatterer," she said, breathlessly. Her hands slid over his bare back and dipped down under his waistband. They came to rest on his ass and she squeezed his cheeks, pressing his growing hardness against her.
Together, they moaned. He quickly sat up and shed his sweatpants. He wore no underwear beneath them and was pleased when he tugged off Nancy's slacks to find that she had gone commando as well.
As he moved along her body once more, his long fingers slipped between her legs. She was already wet for him. "Oh, Nance."
She slid her calf up across his hip and hooked it behind his thigh. "Please, Glen," she said, breathing heavily. "It's been so long."
Placing small kisses along her jaw line, he positioned himself and slid within her. She made a happy little noise and Glen smiled. He began to move his hips. She tightened her legs around him and curved her hands up over his shoulders.
In life, they'd only ever shared each others bodies a few times; too few. Over the years since Glen's death, she regretted turning him down that night at Tina's. As it had turned out, it was the last night of normal life that they would ever know. They had made love the Saturday before they stayed at Tina's and she'd thought it would be embarrassing if her best friend heard her and Glen having sex (even though Tina had no similar qualms about her and Rod being overheard). They could control themselves for one night, couldn't they? After all, they were just teenagers. They had all the time in the world.
Nancy gripped him tighter and he moved his mouth to her ear. "No regrets now, Nancy. Stay with me, Babe. Right here and now, okay? Just be with me?"
"Glen, I'm sor…"
He cut her words off with a kiss. When they came up for air, he looked into her eyes and smiled gently. "I love you, Nancy."
Tears filled her eyes. "I love you too, Glen." He kissed her eyelids and his hips began to move again. Her hands came into his hair as she kissed his neck, meeting his thrusts with her own. He gripped her hips and tilted them slightly so that he was penetrating at a new angle. "Glen!" she cried out as he drew his cock back and forth over the little bundle of nerves inside her. One hand slid from her hip to search between their bodies for her clitoris. When he found it, his thumb ghosted circles across its surface until she gasped. Entirely unprepared by the suddenness and ferocity of the orgasm that overtook her, Nancy screamed. It was a wonderful, joyous scream. She had screamed in terror many times, but never before in pleasure. A satisfied smile crept across her face as Glen moaned her name in her ear and she felt him release within her.
His face rested against her neck and for an exhausted moment, he let her bear his weight. She wrapped her arms around him tightly, reveling in the reality of him. After a few deep breaths, he curled his arms around her and rolled to his back. She lay against his side and kissed his chest. Nancy glanced up at him, only to find him smiling, looking straight up into the sky. She grinned and kissed his chest again before turning her head to look up into the perfect blue sky with its perfect white clouds.
"It's beautiful here."
"Thank your friend Kristen for the decorating."
Nancy frowned for a moment. The last thing she remembered before waking up here was Kristen's voice, crying. "I'm going to dream you into a beautiful dream. Forever and ever."
"Will she be alright?"
Glen touched her cheek and turned her face to look at him. "She isn't one that you are meant to help more than you already did. Her fate is her fight now. It could go either way, Nance. That's all I know."
She sighed in acceptance and looked up again. As they held each other, the sky slowly began to grow dark and the stars came out.
"The stars look different," she said.
"Same stars, different view."
"What do we do now?" She asked, turning her face toward his body and rubbing her cheek against his chest.
"Rest. Sleep." He kissed her forehead and felt her close her eyes. "Dream, Nancy. It's safe to dream now."
The End.
