Someone who is better than me at math -- HELP!
Ok, so I saw this t-shirt that reads:
x=y
x2=xy
x2-y2=xy-y2
(x+y)(x-y)=y(x-y)
[(x+y)(x-y)]/(x-y)=[y(x-y)]/(x-y)
(x+y)=y
If x = 1 and y = 1 then 1+1=1.
For the life of me, I can't figure out the problem with this proof. Yet there must be one. Someone show me what I'm missing?
