Alternatives to "Nazi"
We've all heard the phrases. I think it started with the soup nazi of Seinfeld fame, but nowadays you hear about the grammar nazis and the spelling nazis and all those other language fascists who insist that 'alright' is not a word, and that "c u l8r" is absolutely unacceptable in any circumstances.
However . . . is there another term or phrase that can be used that doesn't evoke images of mass genocide and extreme racism? I mean, I understand the allusion is primarily to the totalitarianism aspect of the Nazi party, not their social policies, but still. Seems disrespectful somehow.
And yet I don't really have a good alternative. Any ideas?
