Basically, the deal is this:
For the past 8 years, I have been spending Thanksgiving with my sister-in-all-but-blood shadesong. This is Tradition. But this year, between my own money issues, the University eliminating my travel budget, and the fact that my teaching schedule limits the days I can travel, I was unable to find any plane tickets less than about $300.
I can't afford $300. And so I was looking at not being able to spend Thanksgiving with my chosen family. So I emailed shadesong, very upset, and she came up with a wonderful idea.
We're raising the money. Starting Monday, shadesong and I will be writing poetry and flash-fiction based on fairy and folk tales. We will be alternating days. We will also be taking prompts. If you sponsor us, we *have* to use your prompt. Obscure stuff welcome - give us a challenge! Find that fairy tale no one's heard of and make us do something with it. shadesong's a brilliant writer, so you know at least half of it will be wonderful :)
Any money raised above the cost of the ticket will go to food. Please help me get home for the holidays!!
