From the "trivia" section of IMDB's page on Richard Belzer (guy who played Det. John Munch on a whole bunch of cop shows, most notably "Homicide: Life on the Street" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"):

'He testified on behalf of a low-level criminal who ran onto the set of "Homicide: Life on the Street" (1993) while fleeing actual Baltimore police and surrendered to the actors; Belzer said the look on the guy's face was sufficient punishment'

Dude, did the guy not see the cameras? Bet he felt pretty stupid.

Also, apparently Belzer is the first cousin of Henry Winkler. And now that I know that, I can't believe I didn't notice the resemblance before. It's uncanny.
