It was their 8th Anniversary and Mirai was excited to what Ryosuke's gift would be this year. They fell into a pattern ever since that second anniversary. All of Ryosuke's gifts on their anniversary would always have something to do with balloons.
On their 3rd Anniversary, Ryosuke left her a note saying to meet on the rooftop. She went there but she didn’t find him there. She tried looking for any clues if ever Ryosuke planned another anniversary idea but she couldn't find anything. She was about to go back down but then she heard something click.
At once, bubbles erupted from all around her. It was very beautiful. It was after their class so the sun was just setting, and the bubbles reflected the reddish glow.
She was surprised when someone embraced her from the back. She knew at once that it was Ryosuke.
"Happy third Anniversary." he whispered in her ears.
She snuggled more closely to him.
"I love you, Ryosuke."
They stayed like that until the sun fully sets.
The year after that, they were no longer classmates so it was rare to see each other especially since both of them are busy with work.
They made a promise to get together during, Shunbun-no-hi, but then Mirai had a new project and her manager insisted that she consent as it was a very propitious offer. Mirai was very down because of that. She wanted to watch the cherry blossoms with Ryosuke.
On their Anniversary that year, Ryosuke went to her house. Mirai's family has known all along about their relationship and her family approve of Ryosuke.
They went out and took a stroll. They got to the park where Mirai used to play as a child. And that was when she saw her gift. Hanging from the top of the swing was a very big balloon. Mirai actually giggled because of the size of the balloon. And then Ryosuke handed her a needle. That made her laughed more.
"Go on, pop the balloon." Ryosuke said, laughing as well.
Mirai did so. The balloon pop and Mirai was showered with sakura petals.
"We didn't get to go to the cherry blossom festival so I thought I'd just bring it to you."
Mirai tackled Ryosuke. And they laughed, rolling over the sakura petals.
On their 5th Anniversary, Ryosuke was on tour. Mirai couldn't go watch him because she also has another drama. They really couldn't do anything about that since it was work. But night of their anniversary, after Mirai finished filming for that day, she opened her TV to watch a Live Stream of their concert that night. She wants to at least see him on their anniversary.
Hey! Say! JUMP was singing the last part of Time when she opened the television. She watched Ryosuke enjoying their performance and she smiled. She really couldn't stop feeling happy whenever she sees him smile.
The song ended and the lights went out. Mirai then heard the intro for Shinku. A single spot light opened and under it was Ryosuke. He started dancing and singing. And then when the chorus starts, nine other spot lights went on and under them were the other members. All nine of them were holding onto a gold balloon.
All the balloons were shaped a letter. And when read, it says 'I LOVE YOU!'
Mirai smiled. That was just like Ryosuke. She misses him more now!
Before their 6th Anniversary, they have made their relationship known to public. Half of the fans were thrilled but other half wasn't happy. Mirai worries about their career but Ryosuke didn't really care. Mirai was impressed. Johnny-san was putting a lot of pressure on Ryosuke because of their announcement but he just ignores it. But their family and friends were very supportive of them so Mirai thought everything would be fine.
On their anniversary, Ryosuke wanted to eat out and Mirai agreed. She thought this anniversary would be different but when they reached their site, Ryosuke proved her wrong. Ryosuke prepared everything it seems. It was a like candle-lit dinner by the sea; only, it was glowing balloons surrounding them and not candles.
The year after that, their fans finally calmed down. Others still don’t approve but they just let it pass. They started getting projects together and Mirai was happy about that. But it seems that what Ryosuke did sparked other's audacity because months after their announcement, Yuto too, publicize his and Suzuka's relationship. Mirai was quite proud of Ryosuke.
Last year, on their Anniversary, they were doing a CM for Meiji chocolate. It was the first time that the staffs were greeting them. Mirai liked the feeling. They didn't need to pretend anymore.
It was late when they finished so they didn't have time to celebrate. But Ryosuke was still prepared, when they got to his car (Ryosuke escorts her home) he gave her a plastic figurine of a boy holding twelve balloons. At first Mirai thought they were all small, inflated, heart-shaped balloons but then she realized that one of the was made of plastic just like the figurine, and engraved on that balloon was the words, "I will only stop loving you when the last balloon pops."
She was about to say thank you to Ryosuke but Ryosuke caught her lips.
Mirai was jolted from her trance when the door opened. Ryosuke finally arrived They agreed to meet today here in Horikoshi where Ryosuke confessed. She didn't know what Ryosuke planned for today but she was very excited. She felt a different kind of excitement somehow, but she didn't know why.
"Happy Anniversary" Ryosuke said.
Mirai smiled and peck him on the lips.
"Happy Anniversary, Ryo-chan... So, what are your plans for today?" Mirai asked.
Ryosuke smiled. "I'll have to blindfold you since it's a surprise."
"Ehhh?" Mirai pouted. Ryosuke's grin grew wider.
"I'm sure-I think you'll like it..." Ryosuke said, sounding uncertain on his last words. Mirai's brow rose.
"What is it, Ryo?"
"Nothing." he said, he smiled again and then he blindfolded Mirai.
Ryosuke guided Mirai to his car. They talked while Ryosuke drove. Mirai was trying to catch him asking different questions then suddenly asking about his surprise but Ryosuke wasn't swayed.
Mirai felt the car stopped. She heard Ryosuke got out of the car and opened her door. He guided her again.
Mirai didn't really know what to expect. She was thinking of balloons. What would it be this time?
Ryosuke guided her in ascending the stairs it seemed. She felt something and then she heard something like an engine started.
That was when Ryosuke remove her blindfold. They were riding a hot air balloon!
The balloon has just taken off.
They slowly ascended. There was a magnificent view and the feeling of flying was exhilarating.
"Ryosuke! Thank you! This is so sweet!" Mirai squealed looking below them.
"When we're together, I'm on top of the world." Ryosuke said, though he looked a little pale. Mirai remembered he wasn’t fond of heights. She couldn’t help but smile.
‘He did this even though he’s scared of heights. For me.’
Mirai was about to tease him about being such a cheese but then she notice other hot air balloons floating upwards. She realized they all have letters printed on them.
She read them, and her eyes widen. She glanced at Ryosuke and realized that he was kneeling, holding a ring.
The balloons say, "Will You Marry Me?"
She embraced Ryosuke and nodded her head breathlessly.
Now that it was gone, she realized that Ryosuke have been nervous before. She realized it wasn’t really about the height. But now it was replaced with pure happiness. Ryosuke kissed her. He shed a few tears, too. And then both of them laughed.
Ryosuke put the ring on Mirai's finger.
"You knew my answer even before! Why were you so nervous?" Mirai asked.
"That was six years ago! What if you changed your mind?" Ryosuke said.
"You should have known I wouldn't." Mirai said, but she was smiling. "This is the best proposal ever." she continued.
"It took all my brain cells. I wanted it to be more special than my previous gifts. But I guess we have to use your savings for the wedding since I used up mine for this proposal and for the ring..." Ryosuke said sheepishly.
"What?!" Mirai exclaimed.
Ryosuke laughed. "I'm joking. I already made plans. My savings even cover a house." He said.
Mirai laughed, too. "But I don't really mind using my savings. It was for my wedding."
"Let's use mine. In buying a house, too. But then after that, yoroshiku." Ryosuke said and even bowed at Mirai.
Mirai mock-punched Ryosuke and both of them laugh.
