I liked doing this last week, so here it is again. Somehow this bypasses my anxious "must make booklog post perfect!" feelings which so often prevent me from posting anything.
• What are you currently reading?
Martha Wells's third book of the Raksura, The Siren Depths, which is just as solidly good as the first two. I'm so glad she's still publishing. Also, Donald Kagan's The Peloponnesian War, which is excellent so far. I've also been listening to his Greek history podcast, so every once in a while I start hearing the book in his voice, complete with the constant harrumphing. Also also, still working on the Tiptree collection: OMG, "Houston, Houston, Do You Read?"!
• What did you recently finish reading?
I ended up liking The Charmers more than White Sand and Grey Sand; Gibbons was back to a more familiar milieu and sharp perceptions thereof (of artists, designers, and actors, oh my!). I read two Melina Marchetta novels (Saving Francesca and The Piper's Son) and loved them. Now I'm really looking forward to Jellicoe Road and Finnikin of the Rock, as it sounds like they're even better.
• What do you think you’ll read next?
Next up on my Kindle is Catherynne M. Valente's The Orphan's Tales: In the Night Garden, on the Sirens 2013 list and recced by
