If I told someone I would be somewhere "around 8:00 in the morning", I would be there within ten minutes of either side. The company who's cleaning the roof today apparently interprets it as meaning "anywhere between 8:00 and 8:59" and showed up at 8:50. I got up at 7:30 to make sure I'd be up when they got here -- guess I could have slept for another hour. Oh, well, Liam's not up yet, and I've gotten a lot done already. Actually, I can't believe he's not up, because they rang the doorbell when they got here and are now climbing around on the roof making a hell of a lot of noise.

Here's
a cool LibraryThing feature, ganked from
the_red_shoes. I like how they have a lot of series listed in both publication and internal chronological order.

Smokey is going home to my grandmother today. I am simultaneously pleased and sad. I'll miss her, but I won't miss the constant fighting with Xena. It's been like the dinosaurs-fighting-to-the-death bit from Fantasia around here lately. (Xena, who hunkers down, swiping furiously and lashing her tail, is the stegosaurus in this scenario.)

I'd forgotten that having people working on the roof means people looking in the office window. Not that I am doing anything embarrassing, mind, but it's distracting. Would that I had remembered to close the blinds earlier. I think I will go in now and close the blinds in the bedroom and bathroom.

Ah, here's Liam at last, yawning and coughing and rubbing sleep out of his eyes. Time for breakfast.
