I don't really think she deserves anything from McDonalds..they didn't really do anything wrong. She should definately get something from the Manager and her Fiancee though.
I really don't understand how people can be so dumb. It just completely boggles my mind.
Yeah, I think she does- when you work for a company they have a responsibility to make sure that you aren't abused or mistreated by their employees or anything while you're there. Especially someone who is your supervisor. Granted, the boss was a fucking brainless idiot, but her treatment while there by other employees IS the company's problem.
Well, it's like any other sexual abuse case at a company by a company employee. What makes McDonalds so different that the rules that apply to other companies don't apply to them?
if you get beaten up by other patrons, no, you can't sue the bar, but if the bouncers there beat you up for no reason, you definitely sue the bar bankrupt.
maybe I just think people should be smarter. At the beginning, she wasn't physically forced to do anything. She was under the same delusion as the others, that what was going on was just how things were supposed to go. She wasn't restrained from leaving, a gun wasn't held to her head. If I walk into a mcdonalds, tell the cashier i'm a regional supervisor here to give you orders, and order the cashier to do something illegal, i don't see why mcdonalds should be liable. Mcdonald's just happens to be the locale. What if the bouncer, takes you around back to he alley and starts beating on you, is that the bar's fault? I think i agree that this is the way the law/courts would probably see it your way, but I think it falls more along the lines of "Coffee hot" "spill coffee on crouch dumb" "mcdonalds didn't say it was hot..gimme money"
it did say that she was in need of money. maybe she thought if she didn't do as she was told, she would still lose her job. she's a teenager, probably scared out of her wits by their authority. they are adults, they should know better.
and, hey, she didn't do it to herself. if you're dumb enough to spill hot coffee on yourself. duh.
Yeah, what she said. Here's a teenager, raised through school to obey authority, who badly needs money and is afraid not to do what her boss tells her to do.
It's not like she could have chosen not to go into work, knowing beforehand:
Of course people should be smarter, but they are trained from birth not to question. Besides, this is entirely different from the coffee thing- she didn't do this to herself. The other employee was doing it to her, at McDonalds. Just because someone tells you to do something illegal doesn't mean you have to do it.
I really don't understand how people can be so dumb. It just completely boggles my mind.
