Dear Festividder!
Hello, my Festividding friend! This is my first year participating, though I am a looooong-time vidder. So I am very excited about this! As you can probably tell from my grotesque overuse of exclamation points!
I honestly don't have a lot to add to my information on the fandoms that I haven't already included in the details. I hope that the information about music ideas or the kinds of things I like in that fandom will be helpful, but most importantly, I hope you will have fun and put your squee for the fandom in the vid. That's what will make both of us happy! I am excite!
I am not afraid of sad, violent, melancholy, or angsty. I'm equally happy with cute or sweet or romantic. I'm not one of those people you'd have to be afraid of doing something serious for because it's a gift vid exchange. If it floats your boat, I'm pretty sure it'll float mine!
Music is a huge part of my life, and I pretty much like anything except modern fusiony jazz. Otherwise there really isn't a genre of music I don't love. I have a few bands/singers I usually can't stand: Red Hot Chile Peppers, Kesha, Madonna, Britney Spears, Dave Mason, and Grateful Dead. Pretty much anybody else will be OK. I love indie bands, and some of the people I've been listening to the most over the past year include The National, Otis Taylor, Bob Mould/Sugar/Husker Du, The Killers, Greg Laswell, Band of Horses, to name just a few (and that is a few only). On to the fandoms!
Catch and Release
So, I just love this movie. I mean, really really really love it. I think the odds of you being here for this fandom, though, are super low, so I won't go into too much detail, but what I love about this is that it is one of the few films I've ever seen that does grief right. It's not pretty people suffering prettily; it's messy and real and terrible. But it does have that storybook quality, as well, with Gray finding love with Fritz, and OMG Tim Olyphant as Fritz has never been more beautiful on film, I think. Any kind of a vid exploring the development of their relationship would make me swoon.
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
I think something antic and wonderfully weird and hilarious would be so great for this. And if you wanted to make a vid about Rawhide or the Rawhide/Buckaroo friendship, I would squee. What can you even say about this movie? I'm planning to vid it at some point, but I'd love to see someone else's take on it first!
Justified - 2010
Man, I love me some Raylan Givens. I am totally about the Raylan. Everything else just exists around him, and so I'd love to have the focus be on him. He can have any kind of relationship with anybody else, I'm cool with that, just please not Arlo or Bo Crowder. Not that they can't be in a vid, just that I would not love having them front and center. Because it's all about Raylan, you know?
Charlie Jade
There are just so few vids for this fandom that it's wide open here. I'd love to see a vid about Charlie struggling with being lost over in Betaverse, about his relationships with the people there -- Blues, Karl, Gemma. What does it mean to be stuck somewhere you hate, want to go home, and then want to come back because home was worse?
Contact - 1997
There's not a lot out there for this movie. I'd love almost anything here, except for one big issue I have -- I can't stand Palmer Joss. I mean, I despise his character, and it really had an effect on how I felt about the movie afterward and kept it from being a major fandom for me. I'd love to see a different relationship focus -- Ellie's friendship with Kent. I wish so much they'd done more with that, which is where a vid can really come in and say something new, you know?
Life
Another Charlie I adore. I would definitely not mind if you wanted to go dark here -- I don't see this as a happy or funny fandom, as much as they tried to make Charlie quirky and goofy. I'd love to see something that did more with his relationship with his lawyer in S1, or his friendship with Dani, or almost anyone else. What makes him tick beyond revenge?

I really, really doubt you're here for this one. But on the one in ten million chance you are -- Bruce and Robert, sitting in a tree... these two guys love each other like nothing else, it's one of the slashiest shows I've ever seen, so if you went there, I'd go there too. But if slash isn't your thing, just their friendship makes me happy enough.

I love everyone on this show. I love everything in this show. Any kind of vid would make me happy here, but some silly music and silly stuff going on onscreen would be divine.
