Make it go away!

I think if I hear one more word about freaking Harry Potter and have to listen to more hysteria about spoilers, I may explode. It's bad enough that my flist is filled with posts from normally sane and rational people vowing to defriend and send ninja assassins against anyone who even so much as gives an emoticon as a reaction and kill all their ( Read more... )

HP who? dine July 20 2007, 20:46:13 UTC
I think I stopped reading the HP series around Book 4, and have only watched the first 2 movies - obviously, I'm not too involved in the drama that's occuring around tonight's release.

as a multi-fandom slasher, I'm fond of far too many pairings. but for some reason the one that sprang to mind as I read this was Buck/Ezra from M7. I know it's not one of the popular pairings, but in my head, they just work so well together - and this probably isn't a very good explanation of why the pairing works for me, as I left my thinky thoughts at home in bed this morning.

I see Buck as a nurturer deep down; he needs to be needed and take care of someone (see JD), though he has no problem being a badass. we mostly see his surface, though there are hints that he's not as shallow as he seems.

Ezra's torn between his upbringing, and discovering there are other ways in which to engage with people. this creates some lovely tension between him and the group, and the overall distrust by just about everyone makes him vulnerable (and sometimes woobieish) and therefore a target for Buck's caring. Ezra's snark (mostly) rolls off Buck's back, as he's not too easily offended, and while their backgrounds/experiences are vastly different, something in their personalities mesh (in my view).

I just like the two of them together - and read (and reread) stories featuring them (including the not-exactly-stellar stuff). I wish there were more writers who'd tackle the pairing - because it's got to be all about me, right? *g*

Heh heh heh...

Sorry, just having a sudden urge to send you Buck/Ezra... It's um... mostly unwritten at this time but there's bits. And pieces.

And Gwyn? I like HP but have only read the 1st 3 or 4 books, but I'm amazed at the reach. On a business library listserv I sub to for work, a question about the total copies sold came up. Let me repeat: A BUSINESS LIBRARY LISTSERV had questions about HP.

Potter fandom, get a room! I'll go halvsies on the cost but for the love of Bob get a room!

Interestingly, I had never even thought Buck/Ezra as a pairing until I wrote a story for Killa. My brain went, huh? but once I started to think about it, it wasn't hard to make it work for me mentally. I've always been an OTP kinda gal, and for me that's C/V, but taking a look at those two through someone else's eyes was very illuminating!
