That was a fast vote. Four, maybe five ballots.
Knowing the little I do about the new guy, I have to say I tentatively like him. This is not to say I agree with him on certain issues, but I think he'll make a good Pope. He's a conservative, which I believe the church needs. Note the difference between conservative and reactionary. My understanding is that he's the type of person that is going to stay hardline on the contriversal issues (which is the right thing for the church), but he won't reverse the progress made under John Paul II. Though I'm just waiting for social liberals to start shouting for his head. I would like to remind them that the main concern of the church isn't temporal society. It's concerned with the seeing as many souls as possible making it to Heaven. So deal.
