Thought: It's Divine to Ask for Help

Apr 29, 2011 12:52

In polytheist mythologies not one of the Gods or Goddesses is expected to be omnipotent. They are aknowledged for their expertise in certain areas while being expected to ask other Deities and Spirits for help in areas not of their own domain. Thus asking for help becomes not a sign of weakness, but of a realistic understanding of the limits of one's own Power and Knowledge and therefore of strength. Which is, in my understanding, a way better (read: healthier) role model to aspire to than the ideal of the omnipotent One, which can be - ultimately - Self-destructive for the human being.
