* Fish update: I got the leak down to a slow drip, but that's not good enough. It would get worse quickly. So that's it for the 30 gallon. Really, I needed someone to help me for the next bit, but there was no one to do it but me. The splinter colony adults and a surprisingly large contingent of fry were still alive and transfer was their only hope. I moved a betta tank over by the long 20, then prepped the... I'm thinking it's a fifteen. I moved a bunch of the dirt and started bailing water into it. I transferred the adults and made a best effort at the fry, though they are small and it's hard to tell how many made it. I nigh killed myself taking it half full to the bathroom where I'd cleared the space for it where the betta had been. They got half the fish furniture from the 30. Then came bailing the long twenty down to nearly empty and hurting myself getting it up on the 30's old stand. I bailed as much as the long twenty would take from the back up twenty, as there is a chance some fry might have traveled into it with the plants and water. Then I hurt myself again getting the back up twenty from coffee table to the long twenty's old stand. This makes sense as it's a better use of space and gives the betta display space. Then came the long process of getting the rest of the thirty dirt into the twenty and 15, filling both, setting both up with basic resources. I've no light for the 15 and the back up twenty's going to share the tall twenty light. I'm short a bio filter and really need two heaters as they are on their last legs as well as lights. I saw the adults swimming around the fifteen and the corys survivors poking around in the long twenty, so I suppose that is something. I don't really trust the back up tanks which is why they were emergency back up tanks. The pleco was alive at feeding time, so fingers crossed. So that is what I did today with all of the spoons and likely tomorrow's.

Fry Addendum: It looks like a lot of the little ones made it. I've propped a betta light in there for the plants, which isn't particularly safe, but fry health requires plants to hide in. Also, I spotted the whiptail grazing the corys tank.

* Glee 6.12-13 "2009; Dreams Come True:"

1. Time is circular. Glee is circular.

2. I'm glad it is focused on the characters that mostly got short changed in the first half of first season. It is beautiful how far they all have come.

3. Popular really showed how far Rachel's come and how much better she is for having known the others.

4. I love the way it catches Burt's arc as well, while leaving in the ways he was supportive of Kurt and the deep love that's there even though Burt hasn't much in common with his son, while not erasing the ways he struggled with coming to the place he could defend his son the way he did over and over.

4. I rather missed Goth Tina, but not the fake stutter.

5. Shue's discomfort with Tina's performance echoes mine when I was teaching Middle school and had to watch performances that made me uncomfortable (8th grade girl Lady Marmalade comes to mind). I can't stand Shue, but for once I get him.

6. Shue's shitty treatment of Mercedes still hurts.

7. Boy did I hate Shue's wife. It is weird because in my head she is now Siggy from Vikings.

8. The Finn stuff was uncomfortable, yet seeing it with him as an invisible overhanging pressence was fascinating.

9. Seeing Kurt with Blaine hair in the early scenes was odd. Seeing him with the cap and knowing exactly which episode they were on? Wow!

10. OMG! Blaine near miss in the coffee shop!

11. Ouch! The Finn footage was an unexpected kick to the stomach.

12. Principle Shue.... I don't know how to feel. Emma doesn't like Shue rapping either! This pleases me.

13. Grown up Kitty in the "Teach the Children" scene!

14. I love that they let Mercedes loose vocally. That was a beautiful goodbye for her.

15. Sue peed all over everything; Kurt is a cancer cat. That scene was really good and oddly gracious.

16. The romantic run hug between sue and Becky!

17. The Sue/Shue duet was so creepy and yet so wrong it was right.

18. Poor Brad.

19. President Jeb Bush! *shudder* Vice President suer Sylvester! Even scarier.

20. The shine to the dead has become a time capsule of the best things about WMHS...

21. Kurt and Blaine are Burton and Elizabeth? I don't know how to feel about that either.

22. Day Dream Believer gave me shivers. WTF, Blaine's hair and the visual textures on Kurt's clothe though? I love them with children. I love them being Harvey Milk Elementary with the big rainbow in the background. All those little kids in a safe space. Damn, I'm crying because I can't even imagine being one of those little kids, for all I did everything in my power to make my Middle Schoolers feel safe in my room and to make their school culture better. My experience of elementary school was so much about cruelty and systematic physical and emotional violence. I can't imagine not dreading school at that age. I want that world so much for the kids coming up now. I want a better world so bad I can taste it. Even though I can't imagine what it would feel like to live in it.

23. Tina and Artie making a film together!

24. I love Rachel being the surrogate! I love what Kurt is wearing in this scene. Rachel and Jesse grown up and together kind of makes sense, especially after the revisit when he turned up to give her choices. Ah! The Jane Austen Sings poster in the Klaine Subway transition was foreshadowing! I was wondering why so much focus. Ooo! The New Normal guy giving the award! I love Ryan Murphy humping the forth wall that way.

25. I admit, I was expecting her to go into labour Quinn Fabray style.

26 The Finn hudson Auditorium. Ouch. It was nice seeing them include the characters who were dropped threads and not just the ones who got closure.

And I thought I wouldn’t have much to say....

* I've started season Two of House of Cards. Thoughts so far:

1. Watch Zoe approaching hidden Frank in the underground, I was thinking. This looks like a cold open for Criminal Minds or Law and Order where the woman is about to be murdered. I was still startled to be right.

2. The handling of Robin's sexual assault by McGinnis and her responses to seeing him again... Damn, that felt real. And when she calls him out on live television? Powerful.

3. I love the intimacy of the ritual sharing of the cigarette in the evening. There is something particular about the one after the live TV incident that moved me. I know they are terrible people in so many ways, but I love their marriage.

4. I am fascinated by the new Whip and want to see where they go with here.
