* I know I've been mostly focused on the Humanitarian crises in Africa the last couple of months, but it is Winter in Northern Indian at least 5 thousand people displaced due to escalating violence along the border with Pakistan are huddled in flimsy often makeshift tents as I type this. Those who still have homes are afraid to return after 60 people were killed in religious riots. The government is not helping, it sounds like. They have no save water supply and disease is spreading.

* The UN got the Syrian government to let them start evacuating the trapped civilians of Homs. It's a slow process, and a lot of people are cut off and unable to reach safe exits. Still it is something.
