Today was interesting. My work alarm woke me up right as I was finally getting to sleep. For the past two nights I have gotten very little sleep. 11:37pm, 1:47am, 3:20am, you get the drift. The only meds at my disposal were over the counter stuff which wasn't doing anything for my sore throat. Yesterday I called my doctor's office only to find out that they are closed on Wednesdays. Seriously?! Closed on a Wednesday?! When my alarm went off this morning I sent a text to the #3 person at the office as he would be in charge today and let him know that I was essentially out of commission (but only a phone call away). Despite being tired I didn't get much sleep the rest of the day. What I discovered over the past few hours is that there is one over the counter drug that provided relief. Advil. Really, Advil. At 3:20am I stumbled into my bathroom in desperation for something that would make my sore throat feel better. Lozenges didn't work and all I could think of was something that may in some way do something. Shortly after taking the Advil I was feeling a bit better. Just a bit. Once my doctor's office opened I called and asked to have something called in. I won't go into the details of calling and recalling them and the pharmacy but by 6:45pm I had my Z-pack and now after having some Subway for dinner and curling back up in my sickness filled bed, I've done a little bit of work online and have watched Surivor and am now watching CSI. During today's sleepless hours I watched stuff on my dvr namely the BBC America show, Any Dream Will Do, and several episodes of Forensic Files. I also watched the 2006 movie, Bobby. I was to have gone to Atlanta tomorrow for a doctor's appointment with my endocrinologist but I have rescheduled and hope to spend the day sleeping in and recouping. I have not yet completely ruled out leaving town this weekend as I have been invited to a friend's bridal shower. However, I'm playing it by ear. That is to say, if my persistent ear ache as a result of my sore throat subsides, then I'll go.
