Weekend Wrap Up

Mar 29, 2009 13:45

Thursday 3/26/09 - I went to my first Concierge Club event at Parkside Main 8. There was a wine tasting. This coincided with the movie, Bottle Shock (2008). It was a blind tasting where we had to pick which was the American wine. There was two, one was American and the other was French. As I'm not a wine connoisseur I picked the wine that I deemed the worse of the two. I was wrong. It was cool as they did a prize drawing. Of those who guessed correctly a wining ticket was drawn and the winner won a copy of the movie. There were other prizes drawn. If you purchased a drink from the bar you were entered into a drawing for gift certificates. It was a pleasurable evening. At first I felt a little out of place as I did attend the event alone. But it was truly fun and had I chosen not to purchase anything, it wouldn't have cost me a thing. I will certainly be going back for the next event.

Friday 3/27/09 - Not much happened on this date. I didn't sleep in because my plumber came by early to fix a dripping faucet. However, I did finish Pride and Prejudice and ironically enough that very evening the 2005 film version of it starring Kiera Knightley also came on television. I watched it and was happy to be able to decipher what was different from the book. As a whole most of the dialogue and scenes were true to the book and what they did change I could see why. There were even characters missing but it made sense for the movie. I will be reading Sense and Sensibility next and may start the book today. I also watched the 2008 film W.. I didn't really like it. I give it a C. It was a bit boring to me. I also watched a few Lifetime Movie Network movies. I swear, they're like crack! I saw Michael Cera in one of his first roles in The Familiar Stranger (2001). He was adorable and looks the same. I also did some crocheting. Thanks to amberghini  for being a 'happy hooker' and giving me a refresher course on crocheting.

Saturday 3/28/09 - I accompanied my boss, his wife, and their son to Madison. Despite the rain, we had a great time at the antique shops and dining at the Madison Chop House Grill. The food was really good and the atmosphere and company was divine. I swear, their son is just too cute! But despite that, I still have no plans for children of my own. Call me old-fashioned but I believe I should be married or very close to it before seriously considering children and since that is certainly not the case, they're not a part of my future plans. Later that day upon coming back home I watched Twilight (2008). I can't decide whether or not I'm interested in reading the books. I'll just wiki the plots. There were a few things I was curious about that movie didn't really address but I am not against seeing the other films when they come out. I was happy to see Michael Welch in the movie even though his was a bit part. I had first seen him on one of my all-time favorite television shows, Joan of Arcadia and wondered what else he had done. I swear it feels a bit pervy 'liking' Michael Cera and Michael Welch. They're both barely legal! Cera was born in '88 and Welch in '87. Anwway, I give the movie a C+.

Sunday 3/29/09 - I got to sleep in today. Yay! Once up I did some work from home for a little over 30 minutes and decided to post a little to my blog. I'm also watching stuff on my DVR which is now at 55% available due in part to my over 70 episodes of Forensic Files! This is my new addiction since no longer watching any of the Law & Orders. I am sure this will be a busy week at work and I will be seeing the parents some time this weekend as we will all attend a get together for my brother and my soon-to-be sister-in-law. I found out that her maid of honor is married to someone I graduated highschool with and whom I was friends with. I'll be seeing him for the first time in a decade this weekend. Gosh, it's crazy that this year marks a decade since graduation!
