I have never been a small person. The most "in shape" i have been was probably when i was around 11-14, played soccer on a weekly basis, practiced twice a week, and could run a mile in about 7 and a half minutes. Not great shape, but still decent. Post college my weight went up good chunk (as did my height) and it hit about 290 pounds. 2 years ago i slowly started wearing that down, and i got it to about 265. In the past 6 months, i have gained all my weight back, and now sit at 295. This is due to basically the following reasons:
- I started a cubicle job, where i have no activity at all during the day, and cannot leave my cubicle
- I broke my ankle, got mono, and had surgery all in a row, therefore i cannot play soccer, and have not, since last November
- I drink copious amounts of soda... basically about 4 liters a day
- I hate running... really, its extremely boring to me
Basically, i want to look and feel better. I have no issues not being a skinny twig, but i want to dump off my gut, be able to take more than 1 flight of stairs without breathing hard, and the main goal, i want to play soccer like i used to be able to... running entire 45 minute halves etc. Being able to make a good run, and still get back on defense, not have to walk around for 2 minutes catching my breath.
So starting last saturday, i have not had any soda. I have tried giving up soda in the past, and it has always failed. So right now, im 9 days sober if you will.
I'm working on purchasing a bicycle, as i feel i could at least ride that in lieu of walking. I intend to ride it to work daily over the summer (4 minute drive) as an easy daily exercise, as well as taking weekly trips to other places.
Not much i can do about the job, maybe i can bring in something to work out with... just something light, who knows.
Anyway, im looking at my target weight again, which is 220, i am 295 right now. I would like to be at least 250 by the end of the summer. Let's see how i fare.
