One of the best acknowledgments/dedications I've ever read in a book comes from author Jim Butcher...
"To my dog, without whom I would not be reminded daily that I am essentially little more than a ridiculous human being who has somehow swindled somebody into paying me to write down conversations with my imaginary friends."
I'd bet a lot of people who write fiction secretly feel this way.
