Thank you so much! This was my first time writing Duo as the primary character, so I'm glad it didn't come off too clumsy! I first watched the series when I was teenager, so at the time I never questioned the constant assertion of Relena as a symbol- it was so apparent that some characters even expressly admitted to it. As I got older, and thought back on it, I realized it was actually an incredibly unfair situation, and robbed Relena's character of the agency to present herself as she'd like to be seen instead of what people wanted to see (though it can be argued that she actually was the one who cultivated this image). Since she's arguably one of the strongest females in the series (both through personal impression and canon admission) I thought this was a rather odd choice for the series creators, and I wanted to give Relena the chance to protest! I also wanted to explore the genuine burdens that kind of expectation can place on an individual. In any case, I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and I'm glad you approved of my choices- if there was any Gundam pilot that responded to Relena on a purely personal level during the series other than Heero, I'd have to say it was Duo ;) Again, thanks for reading and for the kind response!
