So with the visit of my mother this past weekend always leads to the same heartburn. But I’ve found I just take some antacid or whatever and that cures it. (Meaning basically she doesn’t stay long)
One cool thing that came out of this weekend was a trip to Yoshi’s jazz club to see Dr. John perform. Quick background on Dr. John.
He is kind of my cousin. He married my dads 1st cousin Loraine and had 3 kids with her, and now they are no longer together, he lives in NOLA with his other family, but my crazy cousins still exist and are still his ex-wife and kids. My dad designed the Desitively Bonnaroo album, and while I have never met him…I have always told this story.
So Saturday we go to the show, meet up with our cousin Jennifer (his daughter) who tells us to find her right before the show ends cuz she will take us back stage. He is quite the character. He had an early morning the next day, so we didn’t get to chat long, and I still don’t know if he is quite aware as to who we are to him…but the grumblings of a crazy southerner made for an interesting evening.
Now here is the best part. After we had to find out on Mick’s iPhone during the show to see if he is the guy who sings the “Blossom” theme song( which he is by the way)…we found out on trusty imbd.com that he was the inspiration for Dr. Teeth! Seriously? The man is a fucking Muppet. How amazing is that. All this time...not knowing the coolest bit of trivia.
