Dear Catastrophe Lorelei
Happy fourth of July everybody!
I got yelled at by the Old Man during our holiday trip to Catalina. He was introducing Stars and Stripes Rock during our little concert with the marching band saying, "we like to play this one to honor our armed forces" and I started screaming, "That's for Memorial Day, not Fourth of July!" He heard me screaming, came over and yelled in my face. "You can leave whenever you want (ehhh!)" I just stood at attention and didn't look him in the eye. I'm taking Kathryn's leaving pretty hard.
Last night I went to the Belle & Sebastian concert. They played in the Hollywood Bowl with the LA Philharmonic. Very sweet! The Shins played first, but I don't know them, and we got there too late to hear it anyway. Earlier in the day my friend Austin caught me listening to Good Day Sunshine (I still love that song!) and he told me that the Beatles were the first to use strings in rock music. The LA Phil backed Belle & Sebastian up beautifully and played in all the sparse parts. I liked it.
