What a legal filled day. I started my morning by going to visit my friend Chaz at his job as a public defender. I got to sit in on pre-trial conferences and watch the whole process of a day in district court around Bardstown, KY. While there I got a call from the job place but they only left a message t call them and then left both the office and cell number, I am going to see this as a good sign. I called but there was no answer at either number.

I was impressed at the running of the court system though. I never saw myself as the type who could do public defense, but I don’t think working where Chaz works would be bad. It was actually low stress and moved very quickly while many things went by rote. It was so neat seeing the defendants coming and going and what type of questions they asked. I even went in on two jail visits, one the guy had the perfect alibi, he was in jail the time the crime happened, and had been for 2 days.

Then just a few minutes ago my friend Dawn, called. Last Sunday she asked if I would like to go to the Republican Women’s Club with her. I said yes but she e-mailed me this morning and said it was tonight. I had no time to rearrange plans so begged off to go next month instead. She called me back afterwards and started out with “you will never guess who I sat next to tonight!” I was defiantly curious as the job thing looms over my head. She then proceeded to tell me that she sat next to Well-Respected-Judge X and they talked about me. She then dropped the bombshell, they talked about me taking Dawn out to Goth Night at MSL. The only thing I could think was, “Damn, not a republican conversation”. She then proceeded to tell me WRJ X response… “Cool, I always wanted to go to one of those but didn’t want to go by myself!” She then made noises about wanting to come out sometime. A respected-republican-59 year old judge (and I mean I have heard of her and how great she is) is a budding gothling. She then asked Dawn to give me her contact information and said I could sit in court with her one day. I am so excited. After sitting in with Chaz today I could really get a good idea of all sorts of sides of the court system and make MSL just that much darker by bringing in my legal brethren.

What an interesting day. I am getting legal chills.
