Gwenn had only been back for about half an hour. Getting out of the airport was always such an ordeal. She hated the airports nearly as much as she hated the airplanes themselves

Avery was waiting for Gwenn from the moment Gwenn let him know she was leaving New York. Granted it had been quite a few hours, but Avery was really quite tied up with the flat anyway. Which, of course, was exactly what he was telling himself.
When he heard the knock door, he rushed from his spot in the kitchen and hurried to pull the door open. He had nearly forgotten he was only wearing a pair of pajama bottoms.
And when he opened the door, looked down at himself and then looked to Gwenn, he certainly remembered.
She let the bag she was holding drop to her feet just so she could throw her arms around his neck.
"Hi," Gwenn said softly against his shoulder. Oh, she'd missed him. She'd missed him a lot. It only got worse when she found out what was going on with Death Eaters and Dark Marks.
It took a second before she actually realized what he was (or wasn't as the case may be) wearing.
He held her closely, taking a moment to breath her in. It was almost surreal that she was really standing there in front of him. He took a long breath.
His hands curved around her waist as he pulled her closer to him. He didn't even mind that they were standing in his doorway for any of the passerby to see. All his energy was focused on Gwenn.
"Seeing you made my week," she promised. Her fingers brushed his cheeks slightly. She was in a very clingy mood. It felt like she just had to touch him to make sure he was really in front of her.
Avery never thought that Gwenn looked short of beautiful. He dropped her bag on the floor beside him and looked around. The walls had yet to be painted, though he was never sure he would.
A few boxes lay here and there, but mostly, it was finished and unpacked.
"Do you want to rest?" Avery asked then, just as he realized a sudden predicament. With Andy in the other bedroom, that left Avery and Gwenn one bed.
He squeezed the arm he had around her and pulled her close to him with a smile. It was more than nice to have her here with him. He looked around his flat and shrugged.

But he didn't care. He was just glad to see Gwen.
"Hey," he greeted.

"I missed you," he told her quietly.

"I missed you, too. Merlin, you don't even know." She moved her hands to frame his face as she stretched up to kiss him.

After he pulled away, he caught her eyes.
"Seeing you has just made my day."

"Come inside," he said. "You must be exhausted."

Suddenly, she really wished she hadn't been in such a rush to see him and had taken the time to stop and look in a mirror.

Shrugging, she leaned against him a little. "I can stay up, I mean, I've got lots of time to sleep," Gwenn nodded before she looked up at him.
She looked tired, but she didn't want to be a total bore when she'd just got back and she'd missed him so badly.

"Want a tour?" he asked.

"And I'll just add, that was one of the most sickeningly cute displays of affection I've ever seen."

"Jealous much?" he asked in a teasing manner.

What could he say, we was Newton's 3rd law to Avery. Equal and opposite baby, equal and opposite.

"Oh hush. He's adorable. I work hard to make him think that. Don't ruin it for me."

Winking at Avery, he sighed and said, "Fine, fine. Avery, you're a cutie."
