Sickness update

I went to the doctor today and was given a 10-day run of amoxicillin. She didn't give me a "reason" for my coughing, just told me to keep taking Robitusson/Vicks type cough syrups on my "approved to take" list. I DO have a (and I'm quoting the doc) "nasty" ear infection. I can't really hear much of anything out of my left ear and it has a constant ( Read more... )

Ooh, I used to get ear infections all the time. The doctor said I was really weird, because most kids stop getting them around four or five, and I had my last one at twenty-two. I think that was the one where the doctor knew I was so familiar with the symptoms that he didn't even bother to have me come into the office. I called him up, told him that I thought I had another ear infection, and he just called the prescription in to the pharmacy. Totally awesome.

Usually, mine would hurt for a day or so, and Mom Pony would put cotton in the infected ear. I'd take the amoxicillin (ah, the Pink Liquid of my childhood. . . ) until it was gone, and that would be that. Once I had an ear infection where I couldn't hear anything out of the infected ear after the amoxicillin was gone, so I went back to the doctor, and they gave me another antibiotic, which whupped the thing. In the meantime, I was rehearsing the play that was my B.A. thesis, and we actually staged some of it around the fact that I couldn't hear out of one ear for part of the rehearsal process.

Hmmm. Sounds like the prescription might just do it then! I really, really hope so. I want the cough to go away too! I produces sometimes, but not usually. And when it does, it's either pale yellow or white. I have NO IDEA what it is. Argh. it doesn't seem the same as the bronchitis I had before though.
