Gwen and Morgana in the series 2 premiere:

Sep 07, 2009 17:33

Okay, so this is everything I  remember of Morgana and Gwen in the series 2 premier. I'll list Morgana's moments first, then Gwen's, then put up what i remember of them in the series 2 trailer that came up after the episode.

Morgana:

1. Morgana first appeared waking from a nightmare about a crow (a metaphore for the coming of the baddie of the episode). She screamed louder and longer than I think she's ever done before on the show and I think she called out for Gwen but I can't remember exactly. Anyway, either way, Gwen magically appeared (WHAT is that woman doing in Morgana's chambers at god knows what time of the night, mm?) and ran to her, climbing onto the bed and much hugging and soothing ensued. it was a moment very similar to but quite a bit longer than the one they had in 1x13 where Morgana wakes from her nightmare about the questing beast. (All the femmeslashers in the audience - of which there were a surprising number - cheered. Me and shantirosa high-fived).

2. Morgana is next seen during the day but sitting up in bed. It's at this point that you can see she's actually wearing a new nightgown - white, with I think either jewels or embroidery down the front. Gaius is questioning her about the nightmare. Morgana asks 'it's happening again, isn't it?' to which Gaius replies that a dream about a crow doesn't mean that her nightmares are coming back. (So... they went away for a while?) He asks her if she's taking her sleeping drafts and she rolls her eyes and nods. Gaius suggests that he will make something stronger for Gwen to give her and Morgana asks 'like a blow to the head? I'm sure she'd like to give me one.'

3. Morgana is next seen during the battle with the gargoyles, tending to the wounded in one of the castle's big halls. She's wearing the green dress we've seen her in in the promos and has her hair all pinned up but coming loose in little whisps. Gaius spots her and either tells her she shouldn't be here or asks her what she's doing here. Either way, Morgana says something about being needed or being useful. Gaius tells her that she should be resting and Morgana replies that she's hardly going to get any rest whilst the battle is going on about them.

4. The last time we see Morgana in this episode (I think) is when she is patching Arthur up in the castle hall, after he has come in wounded. Gwen is keeping him upright and Morgana is applying pressure to the wound and then wrapping him in a bandage. Arthur is fairly insistant that he wants to go back out to fight and I can't remember Morgana saying anything but she does try to keep him from getting up.

Gwen:

1. We first encounter Gwen in the same scene in which we first encounter Morgana in this episode.

2. Her second scene is a little later, when the gargoyles first come alive. Gwen is coming out of the castle - she's confronted by a gargoyle swopping down in front of her, screams, turns, and runs back inside.

3. Gwen's third scene is when she saves Arthur's life. Arthur is fighting gargoyles in the castle courtyard and has been wounded; he fights one off suddenly to be confronted by Gwen appearing out of nowhere behind it. Arthur says something about how the monster might have killed him, Gwen says that it still might and jumps on him to knock him to the ground just in time to avoid the gargoyle swooping down over them. She lands on top of him and for a moment they blink at each other sort of '...uh... so this is inappropriate...' and then Gwen scrambles off him, apologising. Arthur says something like 'my pleasure!' at which Gwen hurries off.

4. Inside the castle Arthur is being patched up and I can't remember whether it's Gwen doing the patching or Arthur calls her over or she just happens to be there. Anyway, Arthur calls her over and attempts to talk to her but clearly doesn't know what to say. He calls her 'Guinevere' a lot and Gwen uses her confuzzled face a lot. Arthur finally manages to say that she's always surprising him. Gwen says '...oh. Well, is that all, sire?' and Arthur nods and she starts to turn away when Arthur calls her back and finally manages to thank her for saving his life. Gwen sort of smiles again then hurries away. I think this is the last time we see Gwen this episode, but I could be wrong.

The Series trailer:

Lots and lots of glimpses of the girls but not a huge amount to tell us what's really going to be going on with them this season.

There was definitely a shot of Gwen and Arthur kissing, and also Arthur angsting about Gwen ('NOTHING  can ever happen between us!')

Lancelot was there again so obviously we'll see his dynamic with Gwen as well.

We definitely saw Morgana with a sword, in something sleeveless and white, fighting somebody in what might have been a forrest. (Yay for ass-kicking Morgana!)

We also saw Mordred - have to wonder whether that will mean he'll be interacting with Morgana again.

I think we saw Morgana in a scarlet cloak, on the floor of what looked like a cave, surrounded by giant scorpions. But it might have been a guest star - the scene flashed by very quickly and without still framing it, it'll be difficult to tell. Could be a scene from one of her nightmares?

We saw Merlin in tears kissing a girl with long, straight dark hair. My mind went straight to Morgana but again, it would be impossible to tell without still-framing it. The angle was very odd - the girl's face mostly obscured by her hair anyway. It could be a guest star and some people are even saying it might be Gwen (though I think her hair was too straight for it to be Gwen).

Gwen caught Merlin holding up one of Morgana's gowns - which might well be the episode where Gwen ends up in one of Morgana's dresses. Either way, the look on Merlin's face was hilarious.

ETA:  I  remember something else!  I'm pretty sure we catch a snatch of Gaius saying to Merlin 'Morgana is a secret that you must guard with your life!'

I THINK that's what he said, anyway. I REALLY  hope this trailer gets put on general release so we can do some proper repeat viewings to be sure. If I'm hearing that correctly it would suggest that we're going to get more tension about keeping Morgana in the dark about her powers.

That's all I remember - let me know if I missed anything!

Thoughts, anyone?
