I've started brewing my own coffee every day again, rather than going out for it on the way to work, which is one of my measures of general life contentment. So I guess I must be doing pretty well. (Pssst... Starbucks' Serena Organic Blend is really, really delicious.)
Law school results are 50% in. I'm in at Michigan and U.Va. with no money so far, William and Mary with an out-of-state tuition waiver plus $4000-a-year stipend, and Indiana-Bloomington with full tuition plus $8000-a-year stipend. The jury's still out on Harvard, Columbia, Duke and Chicago. I'm not leaning anywhere yet. James and I are going to visit Bloomington this week and see what we think.
Work is interesting, challenging, and often busy, just how I like work to be. I did my first loan closing on Saturday. I never realized how much legal stuff I'd come in contact with at the bank, but I handle and sign mortgage deeds, powers of attorney, affidavits, and so on. Also, two people that I referred for jobs at the bank are starting this week. I find the best way to make sure I get along with my co-workers is to have a hand in their selection.
We had a brief glimpse of spring last week and it was intoxicating. I cannot wait to be able to go outside without a coat.
I bought grippy-hand-strengthener things and really light hand weights to try and get my hands and wrists to stop hurting so much. I'm sick of recurring pain.
I've been knitting
this beautiful shawl in
this beautiful yarn in "Sunset." It's my first project with laceweight yarn, and it's wonderful to work on. I've also been dyeing my own yarn using Jacquard acid dyes, which is really fun, but I'm not sure what to do with the finished yarn. James thinks it's cool, though, so he'll probably get some socks eventually.
I keep thinking about how incredibly lucky I am to be living the life I'm living. Seriously, whatever minor complaints I might have (working with the public, in any capacity, always seems to generate plenty of those), I'm really very happy. And I hope the rest of you are, too.
