Analysis of Pokemon X and Y thus far. . .

So, in spite of the Black Forest Fire raging close by my home (which sadly has not appeared much in national news for some odd reason) I wanted to talk about the new Pokemon released during E3 and the new type, known as "Fairy". It's best to keep one's mind off such horrific things because after watching the news coverage on local channels for most of the day, I learned that dwelling on it too much will shoot my depression and anxiety levels through the roof and cause more physical pain than desired.
If you do wish to know more about the Black Forest Fire, I can pass on information that the national news is neglecting and how to help all the residents who live there.

Personally, I am actually intrigued by the concept of the "Fairy" type and especially it's super effectiveness against dragons. I suspect that this is a reference of sorts to fairy tales, when the good wizard/knight/princess/etc., defeats the dragon. Also because Dragon types are extremely versatile attack wise and pretty much curb-stomp everything during competitive battling. I do hope that Fairy types are weak to Steel types for another reference to fairies having a weakness towards cold iron or another metal, depending on the tale. I can see them being weak against Poison types as well, another reference possibly or a way to actually make Poison types more valuable on a team in the game. I imagine the Fairy type not so much as Tinker Bell and Navi(Hey! Listen!), but as a Magic type, like Titania(queen of the faeries from A Midsummer Night's Dream), trolls, elves, dryads, nymphs, changelings and so on and so forth. So much potential there.
The only problem I see with the new type  is retconning a bunch of older generations, like they have already shown; in this case they had since retconned Jigglypuff, Marill, and Gardevoir. Now, I can see Gardevoir as a fairy type because to me, she has that sort of sorceress vibe to her, kind of Morgan Le Fay sort of vibe, even more so if Gallade is seen as the "knight". Fun fact: most of my Gallades on my game are nick-named after the knights from Camelot :D. Jigglypuff and Marill are probably part of this list because both reside in the "fairy" egg group, which could mean that a bunch of pokemon that reside in said egg group will be retconned. Note: despite the Pikachu line being in the egg group, I highly doubt it would become part fairy. Ash's Pikachu being part Fairy Type? Pikachu don't need no help whoopin' dragons thank you very much. Plus the fans would probably protest Game Freak if they did. :/

Also, I'm waiting for Game Freak to come out with a Dragon/Fairy type, just to jack everything up ahaha.

As for the new pokemon, I'm very excited for most of the pokemon introduced recently. Helioptile has all my love because it's an electric frilled lizard :D. It springs to mind the dilophosaurus from Jurassic Park, you know, the one that spat acid. If they made its evolution an Electric/Poison type, then I would be so very very happy. I absolutely love Noivern because to put it simply, it's a fruit bat/dragon hybrid. o adorable yet ferocious all at once. Seriously, who would have thought of such a thing? I shall name mine Stellaluna(if it is a girl) or Temeraire if it is a boy. Divine Wind=Boomburst attack ahaha. Litleo is starting to grow on me; of course, with Fennekin already securing a spot on my team, having two fire types on my team would be folly. I do hope that Litleo evolves into a massive epic lion with a flaming mane. Then I may reconsider Fennekin, although I doubt the latter would be happening. :/
The new bug line is a little uninspiring; pretty, but uninspiring. Perhaps they should have made Vivilion a Bug/Fairy, instead of Bug/Flying, then they might break away from the usual. I do like how Fletching(the supposed bird one gets early on) turns into a fire type upon evolution. Talonflame looks more like a hawk than Staraptor did honestly. They did introduce a lot of fire types out of the gate, a type they were lacking a bit in Gen 5, IMO. Granted, there was the Tepig line, Heatmor, Pansear, and darmanitan, I feel that they lacked the "oomph" that fire types bring to the table.  Feel fee to detabe with me on this one. When making new teams on Black/White (after beating the main game), I've never really used Gen 5 pokemon in terms of fire types. Maybe this gen will change that.
Clauncher intrigues, but only because it has an awesome concept behind it, the pistol shrimp, which are really awesome. Maybe they'll give Clauncher (and subsequent evolutions) a signature more, in which Clauncher launches a bubble at the opponent, which has a chance of burning when it hits (since the bubbles launched by the Pistol shrimp can reach 5,000 degrees C (compared to the sun, which has a surface temp. of 5,800 degrees C. It's called "sonoluminescense"). Krelp reminds me of the weedy sea dragon, which I am assuming is what it is inspired by. Since Weedy Sea Dragons are so gorgeous, maybe Krelp will pull a feebas/magikarp and evolve into something beautiful and epic. Maybe a Poison/Dragon with Swift Swim and the ability to still use water moves from the previous evolution. Ground types, you have met your match. The only new mon I don't like is Flabebe, probably because its too cutesy and killing the potential the Fairy type could have. At this rate, all Fairy type will be known for is cutesy, girly 'mon when you can do so much with it.

temeraire, life, pokemon
