Vacation week

I took a week off of work!

Monday - got some things done. Did laundry, opened a savings account. Had date night - dinner at Roscoes, cream soda & dark chocolate ice cream floats, watched Olympic opening ceremonies

Tuesday morning - flew to Chicago midday after boot camp. Arrived 5 pm, met Gwynn and dropped off stuff at her apt. Went to dinner at Clark's with Shalvi, had a yummy skillet meal. Saw an improv show w/ three groups, the boys from Claymore being the last. Took pics with the boys, we got a ride home from matt.

Wednesday - breakfast, stopped for coffee at an adorable little place. went to city center. Took the awesome architecture boat tour w/ Gwynn's former cast-mate Eric as our tour guide, then went to the swanky Trump Tower lounge and had fancy cocktails and lived it up. Had a super tasty and indulgent dinner at Bad Apple (fried cheese curds, pork belly sandwich, beet salad) then went home and watched Olympics with G.

Thursday - breakfast. Watched Olympics until Rick picked us up for a beach party. Sat on the beach and had yummy food with lots of friends - went swimming in the nice water and played on the sand. I have never been more surprised that a beach existed, and that it was nice and summery and fabulous. UMD reunion - Sally, Eve, Sarah. Sarah drove us back to Gwynn's, chilled for a few hours, then we went to Uncommon Ground for a fancy dinner and Story Club. They had an open-mic for stories, and I put my name in (to tell the standardized patient story) - I didn't get picked but realized when I was very disappointed that I really should find a storytelling night in DC so that I can tell that one.

Friday - breakfast, chillin, walked to Dunkin Donuts. Met Matt for a delicious lunch & catch up at a great little hole in the wall near G's apartment. Took the train to airport, laughed our faces off. Flight back was uneventful - tried to convince the young button-down kid next to me that when visiting DC, Georgetown is nice but doesn't really count.

This weekend I've been shooting a short film for my friend Steve - this is the 2nd year in a row he's done the Philadelphia 21-day film challenge. This year we are doing a very silly superheros vs. steampunk thing - Kickstarter is HERE if you are able to donate $5 or $10 to the cause. I'm playing a superhero called the Silver Squirrel. Film is the thing I know the least about. I feel silly standing around, I don't know how to act with a camera there, no idea how loud to talk, how not to move so much, etc etc. It's fun though, and basically it's just goofing around with a bunch of guy friends, and eating free lunch. Next weekend we will be shooting our fight scenes, evidently on top of a roof in Baltimore.
