Death on TV

Oct 14, 2012 14:42

Since Grandma's passing, I've been noticing more and more how much death is so prominent in TV. At first I thought I was just really sensitive about it and seeing it more often, but I don't think so.

Some shows, it's a given. CSI, NCIS, Bones, any crime show, but it's everywhere. I started avoiding things like horror shows, or crime shows, things I knew were sad, but regardless of what I watched, I was running into either a funeral, or someone talking about someone's recent passing.

I get that it's a big art of life, inescapable, all that, but...why? Why is it everywhere?

Kid's shows with a girl having a funeral for her imaginary mermaid friend---full out service, burial, everything.

Of course, I can't at the moment think of the other oddball example's I've come across, but, still.

I really don't know the purpose of this entry, but...it's there. =)
