Happy things

I am happy that my husband got the smart home technology working in Maine, because that's how I was able to notice that the temperature was dropping in Maine. This limited our damage substantially. I love checking the temperature sensor from my phone.

My husband is warm and corporeal and that is a treat on a cold winter's night.

My daughter has a great parking spot that conforms with winter parking bans, and with three feet of snow covering her car, she gets to keep it until April. Which means that she has to take a bus to get home to us this weekend. I laughed.

My daughter is coming home this weekend.

We are forecast to get the fourth blizzard in four weeks. Roughly speaking, this means I may not have to go to work on Sunday. A day off! I am trying to grasp the concept. I think it means that I need to bring a laptop home with me.

My income is still trending up and my work day is trending less awful. Help is helpful more often than not. Random bizarre horrible shit only happens twice a week rather than twice a day. Progress.

Small Boy gets his braces off tomorrow. He's going to be gorgeous.

I saw a quote from him on a girl's Facebook page. He said, "I have been to Athens, Greece but not Athens Pizza". I have the coolest fifteen year old son in our high school.

He loves science. He is aiming high in school. He is wondering about studying engineering at MIT or pre-med at Tufts. (His sister lives near both of those, I see the writing on the wall there.)

I called my dad for no particular reason and for no particular reason asked how his old dog was doing. I am glad I did, because Dad needed an understanding heart to cry about it with. (Turns out he had an appointment to put the dog down later that day and had decided to cancel it.) This particular dog is the father of both Ela and her half-sister River. Yeah, I am a good person to talk about this with.

I got a Christmas card in the mail today. This makes me so happy because I haven't actually gotten MY Christmas cards out yet, either. This made me realize that there really is no actual deadline. Valentine's Day would be a fine time, for example.

That's enough. Sleep now, and try again tomorrow. One day at a time.
